LOL they won't miss you. Bottom line is in the words of Scott Reach-Note to self:...Never touch anything from this company ever!!!!
Well if they abandon the culture that made them...then their just your type aren't they? Not my type. I like folks with a memory and loyalty. Not some fuckin assholes who see money before their friends. Each to his own I guess. Who made you by the way....the Bm or the LP's corp wanna be's? Don't even answer.LOL they won't miss you. Bottom line is in the words of Scott Reach-
"I love this plant, I love the community that surrounds this plant and ultimately it is going to be us that see it going forward into the commercialized regulated market that it is, and if we don't then it's gone from our grasp"
You guys are like a bunch of Iscariot's, hating on the guys who actually care.
i've tried to buy a few landrace strains myself and always buy REGS. if i spend money on seeds, i am going to recreate them and always have backups if i ever lose my favorite pheno.
glad i got my Ghost Train Haze REGS already. great strain, but i would hate to not be able to find a male to breed with.
Where'd they come from?I wish I knew what Ghost Train Haze I have. Have four females about to go into flower and roughly 40 more seeds. Not sure what to expect from them.
Cheers
They came from Aurora LP. They will not tell me what genetics they are using lolWhere'd they come from?
Yeah that's one of a few, the road kill skunk has been watered down over time and lost, unless someone has a cut around it's history.I know there are tons of seed banks and breeders already. I meant one that specifically existed simply to keep strains from disappearing. Like heritage heirloom produce has but for cannabis.
The original mighty mite is one that comes to mind. Talk about roadkill skunk . That strain smelled so bad that two kids I went to school with were teased for years constantly because they stunk all the time. We use to say they both pissed the bed and their pants.
It turned out their old man had a basement full of that strain we realized in our teens. Still to this day the craziest indoor plants I have seen and hands down the best weed I have smoked.
That is only one of hundreds if not thousands of strains no longer with us
Well if you ever have a few extra beans kicking around of the rks I would gladly take them off your hands and love them like my own lol that strain is the stuff of legends these days imoYeah that's one of a few, the road kill skunk has been watered down over time and lost, unless someone has a cut around it's history.
However, all of those strains and cuts were created once and can be re-created. Working on exactly this right now and getting closer. I've found a male that smells up the house when I'm vegging and flowering it, it literally smells like a skunk pissed all over the house. Will be doing about a 50 seed hunt for a similar smelling female in that line when I get back to popping seeds in Feb. and eventually cross the two to see what happens. Worst case I'll end up with some very dank weed
Not that there's any shortage of seed banks or breeders. But I got into making my own after experiencing what I was pulling out of commercial strains. There were certainly a few gems and still are. But the majority of what I've run in commercial seeds is watered down crap, unstable and if I'm going to hunt down one potential keeper in a pack of seeds, I'll do it with my own crosses. For the most part it feels to me like we're paying for testers with most of what's out there.
Exactly, there are definitely some breeders producing dank weed and stable strains, it just seems like the exception. I don't know where that line is for releasing a commercial strain but my take is at least 50% of phenos should be worthy of whatever name is attached to a "strain". Otherwise it's a chuck.I also am in no way knocking people doing their own breeding. That is much different then someone doing their own breeding and selling unstable seeds at top dollar.
Cheers
Lol, you and a few others I got your number, if that plays out you'll be on the list for sure. The male came from a BX1 so there will be a female in there. Although I call them BX1, they were crossed to F2's, then back-crossed to an F1 male with that rks smell. The BX1 male is even stronger smelling than the F1 male and should further stabilize them.Well if you ever have a few extra beans kicking around of the rks I would gladly take them off your hands and love them like my own lol that strain is the stuff of legends these days imo
This site is kinda my first time online. I also for many many years just never got seeds from companies. Always seeds or clones from someone I knew. I was thinking it was maybe just me thinking the breeding standards are not what they use to be . Glad to know it isn't just me.Exactly, there are definitely some breeders producing dank weed and stable strains, it just seems like the exception. YupI've been a good squirrel and have gathered my nuts for the coming winter. I fully expect seed breeders to be targeted in the US, and getting any genetics will be at the black market level, which I'd rather not deal with. I have enough to last a long time, and will pollen chuck a few branches along the way if I find keepers.
May not help in the end. But lots of busy squirrel's don't make it to spring either. At least I tried.
If they are never going to be a problem then what about all of the strains we have lost?I don't get it.... seeds are never going to be a problem,,,,They never have been before. EVERYONE HAS THEM and clones are easily found anywhere...
I have seeds from years ago....just never got around to them...they may not even grow but the last time I popped an Original Kemo crossed with some early pearl from 20 years ago...... They popped Nicely wrapped and in an old NON frost fee fridge since..
