I bought this little food chopper a few years ago, for the kitchen, and only used it once. For the hell of it, I loaded it to the top with buds, and turned the lid to grind away. The weed came out perfect! Didn't matter how long I kept grinding, it would not break it down further than it should!

It's a Proctor Silex Food Chopper, model 72507. I just ground down about 15g, in about 20 seconds. Take a look at the results:

I used a blender for making hash oil. It ground up the buds a lot better than I could have by hand.
I deemed my buds weren't potent enough, so I saved 1/4 of the grow and hash oiled the rest and smeared that onto the buds.

Surprisingly, there's not much powder, at least not nearly as much as I was expecting. I've used hand grinders for years, and was the benchmark in determining how fine the grounds should be. Instead of getting all flakes, like with a hand grinder, there are lots of tiny balls, which I would swear are individual calyxs. Powder is very easy to scrape off the walls.

I go through about 2 1/2 oz/month, using my Arizer Extreme vaporizer. I rarely smoke these days, which is good because of the amount I use. I'm a disabled Gulf-War vet, fighting Gulf-War Syndrome/Fibromyalgia Syndrome, among other things.

I think I originally got mine for making coconut oil, but didn't make any more after. Until recently, that is.

I spotted the seed!

The only time I grind stuff up to that degree is when I make oil for brownies. A chefs knife and cutting board works fine for me. Less cleanup. But if I smoked as much as you, I would consider breaking out the mini Cuisinart. Nice tip.

I imagine that breaking up the calyces will improve the effectiveness of the vaporizer. Maybe a suitable mesh screen (a bit coarser than window screen, I imagine ... I use the brass 7-inch mesh screens used by geologists et al.) to remove the reduced material and then give the Neutron Calyces another whiz-through?

In any event, nice idea and I'm pleased it works so well!

A Volcano is expensive but a good value ... I've seen one used and they're sweeeeet.

Dude, this is a great idea for chopping it up before decarbing too, picking it apart takes too long.

I've also got an arizer extreme Q. We just use a cali crusher to grind up what we need though, no wrist injuries here or I'd be on amazon right now ordering one.

We're moving slowly towards edibles though, so I'm going to keep this on the backburner for when we start making larger batches of butter or oil. Thanks

I didn't think of decarbing AFTER grinding! I bet it would decarb much more evenly like that. I used this for making coconut oil, and it worked great!

If you're vaporizing ... do you need to decarb? My concern is that decarbing destroys trichome integrity, cutting shelf life.

No, vaporizing does that because the temperature is well over what it takes to decarb. Same with smoking.
