Flowering additives

So im getting back into growing and even when i did it before it was pretty basic. I hear alot about additives, i usually just stick to basic nute. I was using green planet hydrofuel in my grow but my local shop no longer carries it so ive switched to AN sensi line of nutrients. Im growing in pro mix hp and just flipped my lights to 12hrs the other day. I have added cal-mag after some slight rust spotting and leaves turning a bit pale compared to the usual dark green. Are any of the flowering additives really worth it or any other tricks i can do to boost the flowering stage of my girls. I also hear about molasses? What are the advantages? I have a grow journal but there doesnt seem to b any interest there. Help a fella out!!!!

I know a lot of us on here grow for quality and not quantity. Even some of the quantity guys on here will use plant training and environment vs an additive. Your going to get varying differences in opinions. What I'm using now has it all built into a one part.

no tricks, otherwise we'd all be doing it as normal.
best tricks I found were hid lights, ac, dehuey, c02 augmentation, air flow, heat, water when dry only, feed half strength in veg and follow directions in flower.
I use promix also and tried a dozen or so nutrient systems in it. The organic ones did the best for me. My best and last is Organicare dry fertilizer. Nothing but water and directions on the bag go in at a cost around 4 bucks for the life of a 3 gallon plant.

I use the AN Sensi line too. "The Hobbiest" mix is really all you need for Promix.

So for bloom.... Sense Bloom A and B, B52 and the additives Big Bud and Overdrive. That's all you really need...

So on the website when it says res size it means the size of the res u mix your nutrients in since im growing in promix and hand watering. And when feeding should i feed with every water or should i use straight water/ feed/ water feed ect.? Also is AN a salt based? Just wondering if i will get salt build up and need a flush half way thru flowering

Microbes are your best additive. Active aerated compost tea/vermicompost tea, instant tea products like recharge, mycorrizhae fungi (pro mix says its innoculated, but is more than likely dead). Recharge has myko in it. Molasses is not good as a water in. The only purpose it serves as is, is to feed microbes in your soil. Bacteria eat and digest it releasing micronutrients and breaking down long chain carbs into simpler forms. The problem is the microbes dont really wander around your soil. They find a spot and setup camp. So milkshakes are delicious, but try consuming one with someone dumping it on you. In an active aerated compost tea, you have the oposite. If you were swimming in a pool of milkshake, it would be very easy to consume. The most effective way to use molasses to benefit your garden is as a food source for microbes when brewing tea. By the time it gets into your soil its been broken down into simple sugars and released its micro nutes in a appropriate environment wile being a food source for procreation of beneficial bacteria. .

Keep it simple. Promix and a grow and bloom base nutrient. Nothing else. Get temps..humidity..fresh air or co2 (sealed room if going sealed - and non venting air conditiner and dehumidifier a must) in line with the right light. And dont worry about flowering additives for now.

My #1 additive is a pk powder. Every brand has them and they're more or less the same. I do also feel that 2 different powders will give the best results. Using a high phosphorus (example 5-50-13) for beginning of flower till week 5. Then a high phosphorus/potassium (example 0-50-30) for weeks 5-7. The reason being that to high of potassium early in flower will have the plant focus on stems to much and if its not upped towards the end buds will be to compact inviting mold issues. I also recommend vitazyme it's enzymes, b vitamins, plant hormones (5ml gal). Also aurora infinity it has silica, humic acid, amino acid, carbs (5-10 ml gal). With those 2 products i cut out 6 of my old ones. Bud factor x is good bc of chitosan or you can mix up your own tea to replace.

I ran AN full line for the first few years it was out. I went simple and never looked back. Saves a ton of money AND the quality is much much better. My god the money I wasted on ALL those bottles each run lol
My current mix is missing a few things still but works great. I listed it in my grow journal.
Nice to see a fellow scotian on here :)

Most bloom enhancers are just monopotassium phosphate and magnesium sulfate "epsom salts". And maybe some other things like fulvic acid, etc... Easily obtained for a fraction of the price.

Molasses also helps fight salt build from nutrients

20171224_190227.jpg I already have the big bud so im gonna pick up some B52 and overdrive. Id like to give it a try with the additives. I'm gonna do a side by side comparison, 3 plants with and 3 without. I've got a grow journal, if there is an interest in seeing the results ill keep posting

We don't really have a shortage of bacteria, they are the main consumers of carbohydrates and sugars. We need more fungi, fungi live on some bacteria. That being said, it is known that adding molasses once a plant starts yellowing in flower and no longer being able to feed the soil microbes, improves yield.

Remeber when you apply teas, you want to spray it on all of the plant. Especially those damaged and burned/stressed leaves. Bacteria and fungi live in and on all surfaces of the plant.

I do foliar my vermi tea, not every time, i have different recipes i use, but yeah. I use digested milk powder and tree lignen syrup in place of molasses. The digested milk is simple sugars/carbs the plant can take right into its roots for immediate use and calcium. The lingnen functions much like molasses in the root zone except its not as suffocating and more nutritious. Plus calcium. Its all about calcium.
