I am trying to figure out a way to build a box that would hold 4-8 plants. i want to build something that will be virtually undetectable. That will filter out the smell and wont have loud fan sounds. im not sure on what materials id need or what type of growing would be most efficient. ive been looking at a lot of cfl grows. are they productive and worthwhile? Advice please, Materials, Setup, etc.

Thanks.
peace.

cfls are good for small grows eventhough i dont like em they can be used to get 7-1 grams a plant with airy buds..i would go with a 150 hps for a first grow. get a silent exhaust fan with reflector, filter and thats all you need besides seeds, pots and dirt.

Sounds like a sea of green would work nicely, maybe a small squirrel cage fan, 2-150watt hps' or 1-250watt hps. Wouldn't go with cfls for this many plants as would be more electricity and less bang for the buck. There is a site you can get the 150watters with ballast and all for 20 bucks each. http://www.e-conolight.com/Product/EProductDetail.asp?ProductFamilyID=7&FGNumber=E-MT6H151G
Click the link twice.

For Fan: American Science & Surplus : Motors, Blowers and Pumps
Look around that site, a lot of cheap useful things. Note the squirrel cage fans.

As for the box, depends on how big you want the plants and where it will be put for stealth, oh and the amount of money you have to use. I build some boxes for ultimate stealth and lwhat I call "Leave and let grow" which is an autmated growing box that can be left alone from start to finish. But more into your setup, I would go with plywood as the structure unless you can find something like I did, which is a fairly large speaker I hollowed out and made a grow box out of.

For smell I would get activated carbon, walmart has them online for 7 dollars. And make a DIY carbon filter to fit over exhaust fan (squirell).

For reflection I would go with either mylar or panda plastic.

Any more info or variations to these ideas?

Oh and I would go with hydroponics, less variations in your grow and mistakes are only made by you not nature. IE soil. Then two timers, can get online on eBay for 5 dollars a pop. One for lights and one for water pump, ore just one timer if you use DWC. And an aquarium pump for hydro, or an air pump for DWC hydro. I have gotten oz off of cfl grow, but I do a smaller setup which means better reflection and less space between plants and lights.

You will probably save up to 400 dollars if you do it yourself. And 80 dollars for a 600 watt hps off of the same site as the double click link thingy. But feel free to buy a pack of stuff, if you like ready to grow things that's cool. So much cheaper to do home made stuff though. My setup cost me maybe 20 dollars all together and my plants are super healthy.
