Im in MI with temps that get lower than that and haven't had any problems for yrs in my setup due to cold temps (sub 20*F) other than my humidity dropping when lights are on in the winter. Im also fully insulated with R-13, and have heaters, dehu, humidifier etc available to combat any issue that may arise.
Without properly insulating his space, having dirt floors & concrete walls its possible he may run into an issue I haven't but I've never needed a lung room to deal with pulling arctic air into my warm grow rooms.

not sure how cold its gets at opps local, but once it gets below 20 degree u cant bring that cold air into hot growroom all kinds of problems, thats why folk up north use lungroom to warm the air a bit before it hits the grow room
Then how do you suggest I run eveything thumper??

Fuck man I am so confused right now on venting and room setup it is driving me insane lol. I have been trying to figure this out for over a week now and I can't.

Is it possible to pull in the cold winter air through one vent in the wall from outside, through my lights to cool them then through back to outside and vent the hot air out and somehow still get fresh air into the room?? I mean my plan in flip flopping was to recirculate the hot air to keep the lights off room warm using the heat from the lights by venting it into my lung room and an intake in the opposite room wall sucking in that warm lung room air and at the same time it would be pulling the cool winter air through into the room from those vents/holes in the wall anyway.

I have to get this figured out asap.

So if I do flip flop it will be sucking air in from one room to the other which will be warm air but also some outside fresh air will be pulled into the mix as well.

You can lead a horse to water......
I've offered up all the help I possibly can at this point. Whatever room setup you choose to use I wish you much success.

Red, I have your plan close to my mind and will likely fire on it. It isn't that I don't want to try It, I just have people tell g me so many different things I just do not know where to go with it.

Could you show me pics of your setup??

I just dont wanna waste that warm exhaust air if I dont absolutely have too.

Also would like to point out that I did purchased enough insulation to cover every single wall and side in the cellar. So I will completely cover the walls for sure.

Well I got the frame done overnight. Going to rest a little and start on insulation tonight and maybe get it wired up by tomorrow. Here are some updates!

The black stuff on the concrete ceiling is tar paper. The white spots are not mold. There is no mold in the cellar whatsoever. Still have not found any moisture or water in there.

Red, do you think 6 inch is sufficient? Everything I have is 6 inch...

And I went ahead and built the center wall and divided the op into two rooms BUT I am likely going to run it open, as a full grow. At least I have my studs in there in case I decide to split the rooms in two or in case I have problems running it open. I guess I am out going to have to dial her in to her liking...

6" is good. Just dont reduce down anywhere in the system smaller than 6".
You plan to be able to get in & out the rooms right? Wheres the framing for doors lol?

dam u didn't say u had a walkin, thought it was a walk down lol buried on 3sides?hope it faces to the sw is that light coming thur vents on walls
It is a walk in and the sun rises straight out in front of it. Lol sorry I never thought to mention that. Yeah that' the sunlight coming through but I was going to add vent hoods over the outside of holes to keep the light from getting in. The grow area will be blocked off and sealed from lights anyway.

The studs are 16 inches apart, the door frame is just 21 inches wide. I plan on squeezing in there lol. I don' want big doors, just something small and simple to throw on there.

It is submerged on top as well with about 4 to 5 inches of dirt. My uncle has had his zero turn on top of it and his terramite back hoe which are both heavy as fuck. So I know it is sturdy. I believe it is a good thing the front is open like that rather than completely submerged. I thought you would have known it being a walk in though when I had mentioned a window being in there and vent holes going outside in the front.

This is epic! Wish I had this space at my place! Will be watching closely, gl !

Oh believe me I am going to have a great thread going once I get this figured out and dialed in. I can't wait to start it!

I got lucky thinking this up and having the ability to use this space.

Here are a few more ideas I thought up this morning. Anything look passable???

holy shit no no no no
1 the number of Hids u have hooked up will trip the heat senor in the fan
2 carbon filters are ment to be sucked tho not blown out ......there is a wrapping around it called a dust shroud u replace that every 3 months and the active carbon every 12-15 months
3 thing is with cool tubes and venting in air from outside u need to keep track of the temp and the RH to cold or wet bulbs go boom

ok if u are making this a exchange room ......meaning u are replacing the air for Co2 and cooling factors
1 u need to make a treatment area for the incoming air ( say the outside air is 40f and 92rh u need to heat it up and remove rh before goes in your area.....same thing goes with to hot 92f and 80rh got to cool it and with a dehumidifier that is even harder)

2nd thing with your over all area and how the walls are i would tell u to think about a Sealed room with a Mini split...........trying to control the incoming are in a little space like that before it gets moved into the grow area is going to be costly as u will need over powered gear that can do it in 30 to 120 secs before it is cycled tho to next room (if your lung room was 2 times the size of your grow area u would be good

Something like this:

The black boxes that the fans are plugged into are digital temp controlled outlets CLICK HERE
This way each room can run independently as well as staggered so that they wont show on your smart meter like you were wanting.

Get small "single room" space heaters with a fan and a built in thermostat and run them on timers so they only come on when lights are off and if the temp drops lower than you want. I personally use this one for a 9x10 room and its more than enough for supplemental when the lights go off.

Ok HydroRed I do believe I am going to go this route. Your method won bro. You did lead this horse to water and when you thought he wasn't thirsty he decides to take a drink haha. Thanks man.

So basically in this design the lung oom or walkway serves no purpose in the environmental control, correct? And you don't think I will need my heaters set on when lights are on? I just bought an oil filled radiator heater last night I don't know if this heater will be the correct choice if set on a timer as they take a while to heat up. When the temps drop and the heater kicks on do you think it will take too long to get to correct temp? I can always return and get two ceramics.

That temp control ran into fan, Is it on a timer as Well? Where is my fresh air coming into the rooms in this diagram? I want to use your method but still unsure of a few things as far as setting it up correctly goes. Thanks a lot bro!

By my math I am finding I will need a 264 cfm fan for each room. Is this correct? Should I use regular filters or the newer inline filters??

Also where the rooms two exhaust fans meet, do I run those together in a "Y" or "T" type adapter??
