I usually lurk and say nothing but seeing some of the nonsense this individual does and how he treats people just drives them away. It really sucks because herb is supposed to bring people together. Just read the article and I see serious signs of split personality syndrome at JP Morgan Chase. The CEO, Jamie Dimon, says it's bunk. A leading strategist at the firm says it's 'gaining legitimacy as a new asset class' and 'deserves a closer look by investors'.

What I got from that article is that Mr Dimon doesn't see any underlying value to judge the currency's exchange rates by. On the other hand, the strategist quoted in the piece thinks it's got promise as an ASSET and an INVESTMENT (but not as a medium of exchange).

The guy who took my cellphone payment the other day told me that he invested $500 in Bitcoin a few years ago and it's now worth $25K. He says he uses the money to buy all sorts of things online at places like Newegg, etc. He's already spent a lot more than the money he initially invested, so he's ahead no matter what happens in the future.

I still see a digital tulip frenzy. I think its value will continue to sneak upwards as long as the larger world economy continues to sputter forward. As soon as it's clear the economy starts trending downwards, I'm quite sure Bitcoin will crash- and hard- due to people trying to get their investment back out to use for paying bills and other essentials. The moment it becomes more expensive than it's worth to mine it's finished, unless something fundamental changes with the way it's structured.

My admittedly conservative opinion therefore is to get ahead of your investment now and stay there. Don't bet what you can't lose. It's an extremely speculative game and as such will continue to be highly volatile. Loss of principal is a relatively likely outcome. Treasury bills- denominated in currencies like Dollars, Euros and Pounds but not Bitcoin, by the way- may not appreciate much but one stands very little risk of loss of principal.

Personally, I much prefer to invest in things with underlying value and I'm the first to admit I'm still apparently blind to the value of crypto currencies. One of us will be right and the other will be wrong. I've been both! I could be missing the Big New Thing, too. Lord knows I've done that before...

In any case, I'm not here to rain on your parade. I wish you the very best of luck and I hope you do well with it. Most of all, I appreciate the congenial tone of our discussion and I'm thankful for the insights and informative articles you've posted. It's filling in an important hole in my own financial education, for sure.

@Yodaweed...a troubled soul! i did start on him yesterday, but only because im so sick of him ruining the led section with bullshit. Months and months ago while he was being a dick elsewhere, i PM'd him -asking what his problem was, asked him to stop being a troll and it seemed to work. i followed him on insta and was supportive...but he stopped being cool and went back to trolling. I started buying bitcoin sub $100...so no matter what i'll be okay i've been a believer for so long i honestly dont think i can lose financially, but it was never about the money...its still isnt - it was about the power and freedom bitcoin allowed anybody anywhere in the world...the power to be your own bank and do your own things without the man breathing down your neck. Its still evolving, still opening doors and giving people opportunities they never had and will continue to do so. Its so much more than a store of value/currency.

Im obviously pretty passionate about this, its something ive believed in and watched grow for a long time now. This year has been surreal, everyone is talking about it it feels like its all coming together....just talking about it with people like you and seeing/hearing random people getting involved everyday is something the early adopters have wanted since the beginning. The man have been trying to kill bitcoin from the start and yet it lives on, stronger than ever.

Satoshi Nakamoto in my opinion will go down in history as the man that gave the power back...whoever he is
