While I get what you're saying statscan collects data on all major industries, this one (to be) being no different than any other. Long term it'll provide some factual data which perhaps can be used to change policy based on facts vs. evil weed mentality.

Lol, actually in the world of polls/studies that sort of answer would be excluded as an anomaly. Stick to an ounce/day or less and it may stick ;) What will skew the medical numbers if they use prescription data as-is will be the MMAR numbers, you know the 100g/day scripts????

And the stats are available to all for very little or no charge.

Just hard to swallow that...

corps pay big bucks to private companys to get info like that

It does seem like that.
And for the shit job they're doing they may as well just said "you know what? pot is legal so work it out everybody"
Because in all of their cautiousness comes hypocrisy one way or another... and in the end after all the legal dust settles weed is just going to end up like booze...

Yep it's going to go through years of needless bullshit just to come full circle to where they should have started to begin with
 
They're going to want to know how many people grow rec.
I'm sure there will be something to fill out kinda like the census form we have to fill out yearly.

They'll technically be required to grow legal seeds & clones which now looks like it'll be expanded to allow micro growers and nursery growers to produce (seeds for both, + clones for nursery growers). But like you said, not like they'll be able to enforce or test the source of genetics so it's really a mute point.
