This allows me to move the light closer to my plants but does it reflect light to the point of counter productivity??? Any ideas?

I don't think that's actually helping. You could have your light that close without it and not have the light loss it has. You loose light when it goes through even glass, but plexi you loose more.

Just add a big fan blowing on the tops and directly on the bulb and you can drop the light even further than that and still be good without the plexi.

well currently I cannot drop my light any further because of ducting restrictions. But I am able to have the light approx 6-8 inches from the tops with plexi and definitely a sizable change without plexi but yea I knew I would be losing extra light but I am probably being counter productive here huh? The plants seem to be responding well they are more perky I feel like. But you think I should take it down???

take it off you want more light not less

How does plexi glass make it lose light?

it's EXACTLY the same as glass, just made of plastic. LOL.

My old man used plexi glass for years on his aircooled hood after he'd smashed the sheet of glass moving it one day.

Worked perfectly fine and his buds were good.

Putting the plexi glass there will only absorb some of the heat, which is what you are after right?

if it's working for you, that's all that matters.

:-P

It will work as is, if you prefer it with the plexi that's your business.

If you then compare a grow without it the yield will be maybe 10% better if you can figure out another way to control temps.

I don't know the technical details about why there is light loss, but there certainly is.

anything you put over a light will affect the spectrum

you would need to get a lumen tester...and test it with the glass and test it without the glass and then decide if u feel like its worth it...
