Review of the Source Turbo by Extract Craft

Yield was better than I thought. Maybe a gram on the first extraction from sugar leaves which made about 10 joints and a very pleasant high. For the second and third run my total weight was 7 grams, it just looks like so little an amount I was surprised.

I understand. After shopping around for a few weeks and trying a few discount codes (that never worked) I decided to go with a Canadian source to avoid the scam import charges some couriers charge. It was very quick and painless and I also was able to pay by e-transfer.

I bet if Troy from Extract Craft was to offer a valid discount code a few people here may just order a unit. ;-)
 
Well the first time was tricky since I went the full cycle and it was so little it did not want to flow. After that I would stop it when it was very close, but still had some flow. Then I put it in the container and cook off the tiny bit on the coffee machine heating pad.
 
I can think of lots of other things to spend that much money on.

I built my own still a dozen years ago from a large glass bottle and it will hold 4L of solvent. Have a smaller bottle that holds about a liter for smaller runs. Cost me all of $20 for a coil of copper tubing. Another $20 for a large SS pot to set the bottle in with water on an old hotplate to cook it up.

Not pretty but gets the job done. :)

I chose to pour it out into a small container to finish since it is easier to collect the oil in a syringe. The crucible would be more challenging to do that and there is going to be more waste in the bottom IMO. The little container I use to cook off the last bit of ethanol is excellent for pulling the oil into a syringe. I did a few to test it.

Me too. I would love to build my own still and use a rice cooker to make bigger batches of oil. Since I do not have the physical fortitude to accomplish a still, and my wife was leery about using I rice cooker, I chose the convenient route, all be it more expensive. Money is the least of my problems at the moment and I was determined to make some oil one way or another. :mrgreen:
 
Hey I evap on low heat, my proses is the same although I don't reclaim the ever clear and don't vac. My issue I'm seeing with the turbo is getting the material out if evap'ing down to a thicker material.

I certainly see that being an issue for you. You can do most of the work with it then a few more minutes using your usual process to finish. I used it today to reclaim the ethanol from the wet bud. It looks like about 200ml or more was recovered

As much as it sounds like a cop-out most of my pics were lost when the hard drive they were on got trashed with a screwed up install of Linux Mint a couple years back.

The real main thing is the condenser unit. As I have no running water in the shop I used a 2L bottle of salted frozen water as my cooling source. Easy enough to keep a few of those in my deep freeze and pull out a fresh one when needed.

When I''m running a batch everything is wrapped with heavy insulation and/or tin foil to keep the heat up but those are some of the lost pics. Ugly as hell but works fine. :)

There ya go!. Screw those thousand dollar pretty girls. My whole house is DIY or garage sale equipped and the wife an I are totally into that.

Took off earlier to score more booze and spun out on an icy patch. RT rear wheel is 45degrees off center now and the wife had to come pick me up in town.

Who's the dumbass!? Not the wife. :(

Nobody got busted so it's all good!

Looks like my alcohol lamp I made 10 years ago to boost CO2 in the grow room. Might just fill it back up with methyl hydrate and spark it up again. From everything I've been reading about CO2 supplementation tells me I wasted $300 on that damn controller I bought a couple months back

Overall I have to say I am happy with this product. Although I am still experimenting with different ideas the basic operation is not complicated and gets decent results. I have reclaimed over 1 litre of alcohol so far from the alcohol soaked bud and I still have some to run through the process. The bud gets very dry and crispy and reminds me of ABV from my wife's vaporizer. I am collecting it to make cannabutter since a close examination under a magnifier reveals there are still some trichs left over.

I still cannot get vacuum until I wet the seal on the underside of the lid. then I works first try every time. It would be nice if the crucible had more capacity to make a larger batch, but I can work with that as is.

Note: When you put washed bud in to reclaim the alcohol it is best to clean the crucible after each use. I ran 3 reclaims and cleaning out the sticky bottom with alcohol was more work that it should have been but that is all part of the learning curve.

I would recommend this product to a friend.
