is it boat diving there? or can you shore dive too? we loved shore diving in curacao. not all that rush rush on the boat shit to deal with.

Yeah lots of boat diving and the types of boats they use here have lots of flat deck space, it's quite nice and one of the little things I love so much about being here. They have full step ladders they drop that make it easy to get back on the boat afterwards too. Shore diving is available in some places like Moalboal but many of the best sites around the country require a boat ride. A typical day of diving costs 3k - 4k pesos (60-80 bucks US). It includes 3 dives and lunch, free water, tea and coffee and some fruit. Some of these boats can be quite big. The one that belongs to Harold's in Dumaguete is big enough for 20 divers for a day like that in Apo Island. Round trips LAX-Cebu can be bought under $700 US.

Typical diving boat in this country for a two dive trip in this case Alona Beach to Balicasag and no lunch for up to 12 divers:

Don't look for it. They probably won't sell to foreigners anyway. It grows everywhere. I'm not going to say anything else about weed but I will say this sort of fear hurts the country's image just as much as his drug war tactics. You have nothing to fear by taking a short vacation here. It's a beautiful country full of kind people and some NPA, and Abu Sayyaf and a strongman president who is trying to unify the country by force and populism. It's not the fault of the everyday Pinoy who depends on an economy to eat and feed his family. This sort of talk doesn't help, really. It just helps you vent.

I always used to hear about how dangerous it was to go to Mexico from gringos who couldn't speak Spanish. People really thought they would end up in a barrel of acid if they stepped foot across the border. It's pretty ridiculous. I mean, more people in the US probably smoked herb in the 80s, despite Reagan's approach than they do now. It was everywhere, I'm a gen-Xer and I remember how easily I could buy weed back then.

Only here, it's shabu. Changing cultural attitudes is not easy. I'm not saying his drug war is right, I'm just saying it doesn't mean you should boycott the country. Try to make friends here. 8) If you can't, make a trip to Cambodia. The diving here is world class and it is worth having a break from the legal dabs and top shelf ounces to check it out. I know, you're married to a Pinay, but I'm here right now and I am trying to calm fears.
