When Do I start 16/8 Lighting?

I got a seedling on 24 hour lighting and shes growing nicely with her sexy lil half inch seraded leaves..when and how do i know when to switch to 16/8 lighting....And trust me, ive been reading all the guides and FAQs and coultn find this info so dont bitch me out...and dont say "when it starts to veg" cuz i dont know what that means..

I'm not going to "bitch you out" but you should always read more and more. Basically you are looking at changing the light cycle of your plant to induce flowering. When you start your seedlings on 24 hour light you are telling them to grow. When you want to tell them to produce flowers/buds you switch to 12/12 lighting. I am not sure where you are coming up with 16/8...but 18/6 is a common vegetative light schedule and will not induce flowering in your plant.


So that being said, you can switch your light cycle whenever you decide that the plant has grown enough to your liking. I would recommend not switching until the plant has at least 4 nodes of good growth but you can wait much longer. The plant will double its size during flowering under optimum conditions, so If space is an issue switch your light cycle when the plants are half your max growing height.

Honesty is the best policy. If you had read all the FAQ's and guides you would know what VEG stands for.

Rule of thumb, when the plant is 1' or like gimley said, at least 4 nodes.

Like gimley said, 24 hr light and 18/6 are usually what light cycles ppl use for vegitative growth. Switching to 12/12 should be done when you're ready to flower your girl. One other thing, a plant reaches it's sexual maturity, and will render it's best product, when it starts to produce "Alternating Internodes". That is when the plant grows one leaf from each NEW growth point instead of two. MANY ppl don't wait for the plant to reach that stage, and I'm not saying you won't get great bud if you don't. Just something I like to see before flowering. Lets me know she feels ready, ya know? Good luck.

At 12" I get about 1oz, at 20" tall I get about 1.5-2.5oz; depending mostly on its genetics and how I groom it.
