Anyone know of a good quality humidifier? Are the ideal air humidifier setups any good or are they cheap junk?

This is what I use, works great, keeps a large room at 70-75% humidity without issue.
They have smaller ones as well if you don't need to do 600-900 sqf room.

Is that 12 disc setup overkill for an 8kw 11x22 room? Comes in a little less than 250 sq ft

Yeah, that would be more than you need, get one of the smaller units, maybe a 6 or 9 disc, they work amazingly well, much better than other humidifiers I have seen.

I'm guessing he lives in an arid region where RH hovers around 25%. Even with plants transpiring, that low of humidity is not ideal for our crop.

I'm in Colorado, where RH values can drop into the teens. He said he's indoors, so raising the RH should be as straightforward as reducing rate of ventilation. Lots of people err by venting too much.

If you did things right, your plants will be drinking lots of water and transpiring quite a bit once they go past the 2' level.
I'd invest in a hygrostat with both humidity and temp control. They are not that expensive.
These plants are tough though. Outdoors mine can get a bucket of water in the morning, and hang their heads by afternoon ready for more in summer. I think I watered the outdoor plants maybe twice this winter. and that was just to add some kelp and water in some bonemeal.

+ 1 House of Hydro, and John stands behind his gear. I use a 12 emitter unit , works awesome. When my ac sucks all the water out of the air the humidifier puts it back quickly, and doesn't run very long

I'll have about 9600k watts and 54k btu ac stripping the humidity out of the air in a sealed room. There will be no venting except at night with a humidistat and blower when the ac's aren't running. I'll be lucky if I can see 20-30% rh when lights on. I'll need to be around 75% at 80 degrees to be in in the sweet spot vpd wise.

I have 5 ton ac and the 12 disc I linked above, sealed room, keeps humidity at ~70 percent no problem for me.

@p0opstlnksal0t I'd replace my AC with an evaporative cooler. Get the right tool for the job.

Not effective in a closed space. Besides, the best evaporative coolers in a grow room are called 'plants'.
The right tool for the job is a water cooled air handler connected to a chiller. Varying the water temperature of the cooling fluid gives control of the RH, while operating the WCAH on a thermostat controls temperature.
AC can be effective but you need to get units that control the temperature of the output.

another thing I have done before is hack into the circulation fan of your ac and rig it to a humidistat. When the ac compressor cycles down the circulation fan will continue to run . This will evaporate the water off the cooling coil putting alot of water back in the room, plus a bit more cooling.
Hi forum, i am so much concerned as winter is approaching. Last winter, i battled with cold winter air and reduced humidity level. So this up coming season, i am getting ready to avoid last experience. I have consulted so many blogs how i can increase humidity level and discovered a humidifier is the best option to adopt. However, i have read so many reviews on different blog but this resource https://consumerhome.org/best-humidifier-whole-house-reviews-buying-guide/ featured some products i love. Yet i am still finding it difficult to size the right one for my space. Although, i already knew i want a warm mist device but other features to look out for i'm not too familiar with. I'll be glad if anyone can help me go through the list and make a good recommendation because i want value for my money.
