Can I stretch out my Canna Terra soil with coco?

Hey everyone,

Just a quick question... I have a fresh bag of Canna terra and about half a bag of Canna coco. I want to try and use the rest of these up to do 1 last grow before I pack everything up for a while.

Wondering if I could stretch out that soil with the coco, mix it all together and just water as usual with the canna soil nutrients? should I adjust the ph and get it down closer to 5.8? or just ph as usual with my canna terra soil nutes?

I need just half a bag more of canna terra soil to fill my pots, do really want to go spend the money on a new bag and have half it go to waste.

At that ratio, no it won't "be fine". pH troubles and low Ca/Mg is in the future....

You might just use composted cow/steer manure as the filler. CHEAP and effective. Chock full of bio's too.

Skip the coco....

He would I've done so in the past with little to no issue.like I had said to watch and adjust. If one uses coco on the regular said person SHOULD have a decent idea on how to grow in it. Given the other soil mixed with the coco it would just create a very airy mix with some nutrients. Do I agree with you in a sense yes, but again the guy had coco seems to me as though he would know the up's and down's of growing in that particular medium and adjust to make it work.

I gethca but, I'm not sold he would. I simply made it easier by not screwing the pH and bio's with a mixed batch of styles. Soil pH verses hydro, which is significantly less and more unstable. Changes the feeding, as he'll need to add a Ca/Mg to that soil formula nutrient among other things.

How many times have we seen people screw up and come here with problems when doing the thing we speak of?

It's something "I" would not do.....Too much added drama in the garden.

Then again, I don't like coco much at all. My choice of course..

Well then, I guess he has the choice of our 2 points.......We'll be here if he needs us down the road, either way..

Like I said, I see your point.....I just wanted it "easier" for him....Doesn't seem like he's in a hurry to see what the answer is anyway.

Its all good, ive grown in coco or terra many times before, I was just trying to stretch out what I had without buying a new bag of medium. I can add cal-mag if needed and im using nutrients that are either suitable for coco or soil, jusy gotta change the ph is all...

So yas reckon I might have a cal-mag prob? its something I always deal with in straight coco, so thats not a prob.

It should be ok as terra potting mix uses a similar ph to coco, if you take a look on the bag and on terra nutes, the sweet spot is 5.8 - 6.2 in their mix

God, jeese. You are correct! I forgot and my bad.....That stuff is a soilless mix........Not a true soil but, a media....

yea terra can be almost treated like hydro/coco I've run high strength canna classic flores through it, twice daily feedings at full flight in that hydro ph range, and it doesent skip a beat
