Reminds me of myself 30 odd years ago. Back when I used manure composts for economic rather than ecological reasons. But shit is still one of the best growing mediums there is. Find a local cow or horse farm and ask for manure. Most will give it to you.

I highly recommend "Special Kitty" all natural from wal-mart. Been using it for years and it is fabulous. Not at all like perlite.

Yes. 2-3 year old compost is best. But lots of horse farms will have a big pile out behind the stables that has aged some.

i have some in my worm bed ...if i place straight fresh shit in ground during winter ---will it be ready when spring gets here?

Yes, but it also retains some water. Calcined clay improves the overall texture of soil.
I like it so much, there's 200 lbs of special kitty in my outdoor vegetable garden.

So when I mix a batch of soil here is the process I use , in a large wheelbarrow I mix
2 gal of fox farms ocean forest
2 gal of fox farms happy frog
2 gal of perilite
2 cups of d lime
2 cups of ewc
1 cup of clay unsented Kitty litter
1 small bag of mycos
Sprinkle of great white
1/2 cup of bat shit
1/2 cup sea bird shit
1/2 cupShell meal
1/4 cup rock dust
1 gal compost

Sometimes more or less depending on what I have on hand and can get to locally. When I recycling soil I add the shit and compost and lime and mycos

I like to wet a batch and let it work for a month before using it.

I'd use 1 gal of perlite + 1 gal of kitty litter.

It was the receipt I started with and I didn't see any negative results, and to be honest I was nervous about over doing it.

Make your own compost and ewc at the same time for free . And you can make tea from it too.
