Got a new grow started inside, everything seems to be doing well so far.
the lights just kicked off for the first 12/12 cycle, so this thread will function
as a calendar of sorts.
For lighting in the half of the 5x10 that is filled thus far, I have ~250 watts of
vertically hung sunboard 240s and 200w of horizontal vero gen 7 at 3500k.
using a hlg-240h-c1750 for the sunboards and a hlg-185h-c1050 for the vero.
4 plants going into flower, 3x gg4 and 1x of llama bean seeds headband x sour cherry.
i also have 2 more blueberry seedlings that are a couple weeks behind and
will round out my 6 plant flowering max after they finish veg.
soil mixture is 1 brick coir, 1 bag happy frog, 2 gallons chicken manure/feather
mixture from our farm, 10 gallons horse poo from our farm, growstones, and
verm. there were other amendments used as well, like various rock powders,
kelp, alfalfa, blood meal, bone meal, and organic whole grain wheat flour. they
are fed jacks tomato feED, tap water (for calcium) and epsom salts. the glues
are finicky little assholes when it comes to magnesium. i'm still waiting for the
microbe populations to grow to the point of being able to handle the ammonia
that's in the jack's tomato, they always look like they're experiencing de-nitrification
before the microbe populations are in place.
if you're reading this and want to argue that synthetic nutrients kill microbes,
just don't. i work in the mushroom industry and there are thousands of TONS of
mushrooms grown every month because microbes convert ammonia to nitrates.
by utilizing those bacteria, i am able to constantly up the protein content in the
substrate (by using synthetic nutrients) and foster a rich microbial population.
