Hey everyone im new on here so please be nice. I recently brought a 400 cooltube i intend to use to grow with. Couple questions i have. Do i need to run a cooling fan? And will the change from cfl to mh/hps hurt my plants? If anyone needs more info on my setup just ask i just dont know what info to put up. Cheers all..

You don't need to run a cooling fan depending on your temps although recommended as that's the purpose of it.

A couple days intro to mh/hps recommended but not a deal breaker. Can always keep hood further away and bring in slowly.

The whole point of a cool tube is to have a fan running air through it and that air been removed by ducting, otherwise you may as well run an open hood which has a better footprint and doesn't have and loss of light due to the glass.
You can run either a separate fan for extraction and the cool tube or you can rig it up using one fan only.
Filter>Fan>CoolTube>hot air out.
Getting the hot air out of the house makes a big difference but you may well get away with venting into the room with just a 400w but that depends on your ambient air temps and the size of the room your in.

I have a 600w hps cool tube with a high output 4 inch fan taking cold air from outside blowing in on the rear of the bulb and ducking on the other end so hot air is blown away from the bulb out of the tent .. cool tubes I found restricted light tbh and don't give the same print as an open one . I won't be using this one after this harvest . Back to open hood

I was reading its possible to remove the glass in the cooltube to make it not restrict the light? If i have dramas with the glass i will possibly do that

Also i was wondering if i ran a 4inch carbon filter ducting and 4 inch fan will that be effecient enough for heat and odor control?
