Hard water plus humidifier = tons of calcium carbonate thrown into the air, clogging carbon filter.Yerp, check my thread for a pic.

You are late. I asked about this on post 3 and it was explained about the dust and tap water already.
You're welcome!
Yeah, this is what I was thinking as well. Any way around this? Do I need to buy distilled water for the humidi?
Brita is just activated carbon, it won't make a dent.I bet even a Brita type filter on the faucet will remove a lot of the sediment.
Yep. Distilled water doesn't have the mineral content.Yeah, this is what I was thinking as well. Any way around this? Do I need to buy distilled water for the humidi?
It's the tap water. I had the same white powder when I used my humidifier. Changed to RO water, no more white powder.Honestly, no idea if it's sonic or not. Probably not... tap water yes.

I was thinking about running a small swap cooler plumbed into the side of the box... kinda defeats the point of growing in the armoire though. Seems like a decently priced RO unit might be the way to go... anyone recommend a decent, relatively cheap, low volume unit?
Does DE cause this? I’m having this problem now smhDo you use perlite or diatomaceous earth?
