The old infrastructure has been superceded.
No one can say what the implications will be.
It certainly makes rumor, innuendo and propaganda a lot easier.
Culture is about choices, and those choices take time. Which is exactly what's squeezed out of modern communications channels like internet.
So it's still in process and there will be plenty of time to watch be cultures grow around the internet and its promise.
