Breitbart was always a fake media outlet propped up by losing ads.

I don't agree, they were people who super optimized to the system that was in place at the time.

As long as they play by the new rules and pay their share I see no need for punitive measures.
Everybody talks about "make this country great again".

Well, you know what made us great? The rich. You know why? They paid the way for it.

During the Eisenhower years the mega-rich paid nearly 90% in taxes. It didn't really matter though because they still had more money than they knew what to do with. Over 55% of the governments money came from them alone. We had free college educations, nearly free medical care, great social services and plenty of job opportunities.

Now, we're struggling. We've had to go off the gold standard and quite literally make money up out of thin air. We have a widening gap in income equality which is leading to more and more frequent recessions (crashes) in the market. We've sold every job overseas to where all we are now are sales and customer support. We don't make anything at all anymore.

It's only going to get worse.

Why?

Because now the rich don't pay but about the same taxes as the middle class: around 15 to 18%. Less than 1% of the government's money now comes from those taxes.

Apparently, having more money than 10 generations, let alone yourself, could ever spend simply isn't enough.

When it gets to that point its about power, not greed.

Dude, they wrote the rules that has practically wiped out the middle class and destabilized this country. Welcome to US-style corruption. I'm not talking about jailing them for corrupt acts although that might be justifiable. I'm saying let's re-balance the distribution of wealth to where it was when the country had a vibrant middle class. It's in the 1%'s best interest too. The current state is neither healthy or stable for this country.

Not all of them, your argument is akin to "Those black people committed crime so all black people must commit crime", just with rich instead of black...

They changed the perfectly good economic rules and tax laws of the '50's through much of the '60's.

When JFK cut taxes in the '60's to spur growth, he cut them 91% to 67% for the $440,000 bracket.

It also helped keep people from making $440,000 knowing that they aren't going to clear much.

We also had an enormous post WW II industrial middle class tax base.

So, we continued to cut taxes, allowed companies to move abroad, and the ones that stayed had to modernize to stay competitive, and wonder why there are deficits?

There has to be tax revenue. Taxing millionaires at perfectly good earlier rates works for me.

About 90% of those in the top income classes were born to the upper economic class. They won a genetic lottery, not "super optimized". You are talking about the relatively few who build wealth by creating a company. If you beef is about protecting creative jobs creating innovators then I'm there with you and there is no reason why a person can't build wealth in their own companies. The taxes come when the sell and maybe a "founders tax credit" can be imagined. But they are the smaller part of the income picture. Where the money is being made these days is rent seekers and investment banking. If you aren't adding to jobs and the economy then whatever you make should be taxed heavily. Same goes with inheritances and CEO pay.

Yeah I've been saying that for awhile now, but people would rather quibble.

Until we learn to work together, the rich will continue to play divide n conquer games while taking ever more for themselves.

I've been saying this, too.

We agree about much more than we disagree.

Yet you continue to call me names.

If the Democrats were going to help, they'd have done it by now.

But go ahead- keep calling me names and see how far it gets you.
