I try not to do the name calling
but on occasion you meet someone whos both intelligent and yet stupid and the frustration boils over and you just cant help yourself
and when they hide behind a façade of moral or patriotic high ground, thryre usually the ones blowing someone in a public bathroom stall or diddling kids

part of the political problem is that most people are 1 or 2 issue people
meaning all they care about is that 1 or 2 issues
for example;
you could have the best qualified and most honest charitable person on the planet running against a huge douche bag
and a large % of the population will vote for the douche bag simply because he claims hes against abortion yet hes stealing from sick kids on the sly
many religious people would vote for charley manson if he was the republican candidate and came out against abortion
this is the single most problematic issue to the democrats

When the radical right calls for voter suppression, outright murder of Muslims on suspicion of being a terrorist, using ICE agents to cow Latino voters, endorse policies that would degrade air, water and climate, make it easier for cops to kill young black men, increase penalties for nonviolent drug offenders, endorse legislation that would cut taxes on the wealthy while increasing spending to balloon the debt and support a president who made fun of a disabled person, then yeah, it's completely reasonable for me to call you all sorts of names because I've done nothing to match what you and your kind have done to this country.

I always wondered about the hole oil conspiracy theory regarding our tinkering around in the middle east
when we went into Iraq and didn't take the oil I remember thinking, that's strange, if where not here to take the oil then why the fuck are we here
so I decided to find out how it works
disclaimer; this is a description based on my foggy stoner memory !
its not about taking the oil, its about controlling the flow of the oil
the transport of oil is a large part of the cost
going into Iraq was to destabilize control or disrupt corporate world investors for investing/building pipeline in the region that would favor other counties, for example china and india
investors wont pu the money into a region of the world that's unstable cuz the locals will blow up the pipelines and shit like that
at the moment most of the oil passes thru the port out of isreal and then its transported by boat to us and china and everyone else so the costs are about the same for everyone
(ever wonder why we always back isreal? it aint cuz we feel sorry for the jews)
if they build a pipe line from iran directly to china, china and other counties (Russia) will have a significant economic advantage over the US on the cost of oil
so theyre trying to set the market price by fiddling with shit and hiding behind freedom and democracy or even religion and human rights

Coal is the worst; loaded with heavy metals, particulates and make the most CO2.
Fuel oil is better, less contaminants, less CO2.
Gasoline is an improvement, again less CO2. Unless 2-stroke, then there's a lot of particulates again.
Best fossil fuels are natural gas, ethane and propane; very few contaminants, can run indoors because they don't make carbon monoxide, least amout of CO2 generated per BTU. Natural gas can also be feedstock for fuel cells, an even more efficient way to make electricity than burning it.
Not all fossil fuels are the same in terms of pollution or global warming.
Therefore, the more natural gas and the less coal burned relative to the total, the better. This is the basic reason why America is reducing its CO2 footprint even without painful changes such as forcing gas powered vehicles off the roads in favor of electric.
It gives us time to upgrade our infrastructure, and it can do the same for the rest of the world too.
