This is great.
Dr. Robitaille (of Kirchoff's Law infamy, among other things) has started a new channel where (it appears) he is going to essentially offer a free Master's course of Astrophysics, with special emphasis on Sol.

This latest "episode" deals with the questions of the Sun's "surface" and how the standard model is aberrant against the facts. He is of the opinion the "surface" is real, in the sense it is made of condensed matter! That's pretty bold to suggest, but knowing his deeper analysis from watching prior presentations of his over the years, I can confidently state he makes a strong argument and can back it up with evidence.

I highly recommend subbing to his channel, if you're on YouTube.

only a real idiot would promote this fucking nonsense. like, the type of idiot who is so idiotic that he thinks that CO2 is not a greenhouse gas, a retarded quack theory that even the most vehement and quacky climate deniers laugh at.

He may be a quack, but it is an interesting question. Forget solid matter. A surface could be an interface between a dense plasma zone and a less dense zone. Sort of like a liquid to a gas (ocean surface).

Doesn't mean much except to physicists. Nothing we currently could build could directly explore either medium or send messages back.

I made it two minutes in. His "evidence" presented in the first two minutes -- pictures from a telescope and so-called tornadoes is not evidence at all and his thought guide when showing the pictures tell the viewer what to think.

He's comparing the surface of the earth to the sun. Physics of wind shear at earth normal conditions applied to a system not even close to those of earth. 2.8 million degrees C and about many, many times the surface gravity of earth. Those "winds" are ionized ion particles and the driving force is shifting magnetic fields. "wind shear" my ass.

The mass of plasma "was stretched and pulled back and forth by powerful magnetic forces but [was] not ripped apart in this sequence," SDO team members wrote in a description of the video. "The temperature of the ionized iron particles observed in this extreme ultraviolet wavelength of light was about 2.8 million degrees C (or 5 million degrees F).
