not feeding it enough neuts

howdy, second grow here.

i just realised 5 weeks into flowering i actually was feeding my plant %50 less neuts that it was ment to be getting, so after comparing my plant to others 5 weeks into flowering i realised my buds are way too small. Its a rather big plant and i have a feeling that the fan leaves are stealing all the good stuff.

Is it ok to cut off all the fan leaves to hopefully fatten up the buds before harvest.

the plant has outgrown the closet and the light is actually on the side of the plant because its hit the roof, so by cutting the leaves off i would be getting light to the other side of the plant.

thanks

stays relevant.
Your plants fan leaves are not going to prevent your buds from getting fat. Tell us more about your environment please. Also, 5 weeks in is pretty soon, and the buds will begin fattening up much more after this point.

thanks for the reply.

not much too it, its in the closet and the plant reached the roof of the closet, so i had to put the light on the side of the plant so it wouldnt burn the plant, so i have been rotaiting the pot every 2 weeks so the other side of the plant gets a good dose of light, i dont have enough room to tie it all back.

thanks

lots of strains put on the majority of their weight in the last 3 weeks and the fan leaves help feed the plant during this time. cutting them off will hurt not help.
get your nutes up to strength and watch the buds swell.
if there was a problem with not enough nutes you would have seen more than just small buds. you would have seen deficiency problems and your plants seem healthy.
sometimes more isnt always better . i run my nutes at half strength until about the second week of flower because im in soil and the plants just dont seem to need full strength.
start bumping the nutes up and watch for toxicity problems and leave the fan leaves alone
best of luck to ya and i hope you have a killer harvest!

leave the fan leaves, cos...

a) they're making the good stuff for your bud.

b) they'll provide some food when you flush the plant before harvest.

c) If you over-fert the plant it will dump toxic levels of nutes into the fan leaf, thereby protecting your buds.

d) They act as a good indicator to how your plant is doing.
