No it isn't. The statues can still be seen, but they no longer carry the weight of state approval.

You're on the wrong side of this one. I understand your point of view but you've never lived in the Deep South and therefore you likely do not understand the implications of honoring the Confederacy in the face of endemic and ongoing personal AND state sponsored racism.

Removing those icons of white supremacy from public places of honor was absolutely the right thing to do, and long overdue.

Those who wish to see them can still do so; they are not being destroyed, nor are they being hidden from anyone who wants to visit their new home in the museum. Therefore, no censorship.

There were a dozen generals, like Lee, from the South who'd renounce their oath of commission in the U.S. Army and fight for the Confederacy.

None of those treasonous decisions that those generals made has anything to do with the wave of monument building that went on in the South between 1890 and 1920. In fact, most of those being immortalized in monuments had long since died.

That would be Andrew Jackson and Martin Van Buren, both a couple of ass kickers. Politics of the nineteenth century was akin to gang rivalries and turf control, and the Democrats, Whigs, Know-Nothings, and the upstart GOP (1852) all had a "muscle" arm to it. For the early Democrats of the late 1820s, the muscle were the major figures. I don't know how many men each of them killed, but it was a lot. Just look at MVB, what a bruiser! And there's little reason to figure that MVB still has an active gang in NYC called the Van Buren boys. Even Castanza has a run-in with them.

Local govt. should of used the Saudi's/Fox News/Oil Industry distraction play book ceremony instead of
late breaking news inciting more division. (or have we forgotten it's getting worse.)
As far as democracy is concerned, I feel it didn't happen by mistake.

I dont disagree its part of our history but they belong i meuseums not piblic parks..
They arent being crushed up into gravel....

Im assuming, though will check, they were in public park type settings. They need to go to meuseums... they, nor stars and bars, deserve a place of glorification of treason and enslavement on land owned by all.

Im assuming you arent African American, nor am i, how would you feel if roles were reversed and it was caucasians enslaved as property, and a group that spilled American blood to protect that action was glorified in monuments in your public park...

They werent forced off someones private land, that would be censorship

So why did Lincoln want lee to lead the union army again and what was the only reason lee did not actually lead the union? Do you not know?

Hey isn't this a little "nationalist" though? Seriously, I'm glad the csa lost the civil war but there's a secession movement in Cali due to trump. Would this movement be treasonous to you?
