no clue as to light reflection but you don;t want it's thermal reflection - that stuff is made to keep heat in and you want to get heat out.

another question, how big of a HID light would i need to light a 4x8 room? and wouldthis provide adequate heating to this room? (its not hooked up to HVAC)

I would go with ( 2 ) 400 watters at least to give you an even spread. That would be the starting point.

yea, two 400 watt lights or one 1000 watt hps light will work. plenty if not too much heat when they are on, but you can;t let the plants get too cold in the dark cycle.

insulation is not going to be enough. you're going to need to add a small space heater for when your light is out.
