Running at a true 640 watts, the Optilux delivers a stunning 1500 PPFD @ 2ft from the canopy with 400 PPFD on the edges of a 4 x 4 area.

We've been getting a lot of request to make a video like this.. so here it is!! A short PPFD output demonstration of our new Optilux! Check it out hope you guys like it!

Looks about like what I'd expect from that wattage. Like every other commercial LED grow light I've seen, it directs it all straight down, so plenty of intensity directly under the fixture but very little outward from it. I'll give you a suggestion how to beat every other such light on the market, and it's not even that hard to do. Instead of the flat heat sinks, which require flat mounting of the LEDs, you could use round heat sinks, commonly available, one on each of the outer COBs, and then mounted in such a way that they are independently adjustable, like track lights. Then people could do what is clearly required to get any kind of usable intensity on the outer perimeter, adjust those COBs so that they point outward instead of down. What you have there is a square spotlight. Granted a rather nice spotlight, but a spotlight nonetheless.

I find this to be the problem with all prefabed lights.. Packed too close together .. DIY is the way to go.. Build and space your cobs how you like.. At a cheaper price..

Yes, ultimately a 4 foot square fixture would be the most even light distribution, but to keep a fixture fairly small for convenient shipping it would either have to be extendable, like sliding sections, or each COB individually adjustable. The fixture which is the subject of this thread is competitive with other similar wattage fixtures. I'm just saying that with an adjustable design it would be ahead of the pack.

I have been looking into these lights a bit and am quite interrested. Instead of a round heatsink, make it either smaller pieces that attatch together or a big panel with each one having hinges that lock in multiple positions so you get the angle with directed light.
also with 125w chips, throw some fans in there and make them dimmable and with 100w power capabillity with fans kicking in on temperature switch. For the price point would be nice extras.
Just an idea..
these guys also make a massive single chip, I dont know what you would drive it with but I was talking to a guy named sang. seems like a good guy.

Their website is NEVER updated and a lot of technical information isn't available.....all the stuff that LED people want to know about....But the idea people behind the products seem to be on it....Beyond that...nope. We definitely see you! We are not so big that we cannot see the community in which our products are built for and that you guys are the ones that drive our success! We are all working very diligently to get our name out. I appreciate all the kind words from you in the past! I understand everyone's concerns about LED and how it may be cheaper to go the DIY route.

We put a ton of research into the technology that goes behind these fixtures, everything is optimized. We are not telling people to switch from DIY over to our fixtures, we are simply saying that there are a ton of people buying "high end" LED fixtures at a premium price that are not getting a premium fixture in return. Also that we are confident that we offer that premium fixture, utilizing new and patented LED technology to hopefully change the general consensus that LEDs are not the way to go. It is a shame to hear all these LED grow light horror stories from the past, and it is a hurdle that we are constantly jumping over.

I hope you understand where we are coming from, your support means more to us than you think. Any chance you'd like to give the Optilux a try and let everyone on here know your thoughts first hand?

Yes, the lens' can be removed from any of the COBs. Although we do not recommend doing so, as each lens was chosen carefully to get the best light distribution without losing intensity.

You could actually just get some LED track light housings and put better COBs in them than the normal ones. Four tracks with four lights on each one, sliding and pivoting. Why would anyone want to use something other than LED track lights for grow lighting? They're perfect for it.

Why, is there 110-120• lenses in the middle & 90• on the edges? That would be the way to go, no?
