The RH will climb when you put damp bud in there, a good thing as you don't want it to dry too quickly. That leads to harshness. It is less of a concern for edibles.

Those of you who are more experienced can correct me if I'm wrong.
I believe you're gonna want to raise your humidity more. Once your plants are in there, they will raise it a little. If it's not over 50% you may want to boost it a little more. Maybe a bowl with a towel in it raised up with a coat hanger might work. The closer to 62%the better I've Been Told. I keep my drying areas at least 55%rh. You also want to make sure that that the little fan is not blowing directly on the buds. As long as there is some circulation to keep mold away. The slower the better if you plan on smoking them.
That's why I am having to learn a lot about tinctures and edibles. My drying process was less than ideal. I believe that I have dried my early plants way too long before jarring them up. Perhaps I am just not patient enough and with curing they will improve.
In the meantime the Edibles are quite nice.

Hey Thystikk, any advice on outdoor grow- going with 7 gal. smart pots,mix of Fox Farms Ocean Forest & Happy Frog,Black Gold soil, and Peralite,with small layer of Hydrotron at bottom. Using Fox Farms Trio.Have 3 Original Skunk#1 & 5 White Widow Extreme started inside.Not clear on water and feed regimen.

Looks good. Don't overwater, that's the biggest worry about a small plant in a big container.

i have a second temp rh meter all set for when they hang and dry. Its like the one in my grow tent, I really like it. I attached a little desk fan in the dry closet pointing upwards so that it wont blow directly on hanging bud. Picked up some nice sharp little trimming scissors today.
I did that bowl/towel/coat hanger thing inside my grow tent for a month or so when humidity was low. It worked great. More plants in there now and humidity is steady without the bowl.
I also have ball jars and bodeva 62% packs when it comes time to cure....and have a couple of little RH meters that will go in the jars. Ive got a USPS scale that I used to use for ebay somewhere around here. It does grams and ounces. I think it should work.
Just waiting for my microscope to arrive...patience is not one of my virtues.

I have always planted in 5 gal pots. After watering in my new seeds, I don't water to runoff for 6 days. I only keep the area around the seedling damp. Then it's like 4-4-3-3-3-2 days in between my runoff waterings. By then it should have a pretty good root system I figure.
I just bought 3 airpots for my cookies. Hope to have them planted by the weekend. I have high hopes for this next grow.

I have faith in you! If anything you'll probably do like I did and get her into jars a little earlier than ideal. Just more handling of jars for a week or so.

Since I have failed at this for my first 4 plants, I hope you do better than I did. The up side is, the Edibles taste great even if the buds smell like hay. Today I used some trim for cannabutter. Cookies for breakfast?
Better to underdry than overdry? How do you handle wet bud in jars? I have one ready to go into jars tomorrow. Last chance to get it right.

There's no returning from overdry. The 1st coupla plants I put in jars too early. RH 75-80 after just a few minutes in the jars. I just opened the jars couple times a day and every other day I'd dump them out and let em sit for a few hours before going back into jars.
After about a week they were all stable between RH 60-67. Then I just open for a few minutes every few days or once a week.
I've noticed the wetter stuff seemed like it had no smell compared to a plant that I believe was jarred at precisely the right time. Gave those weak buds a good squeeze and bam! Stink city.
I've been smoking my 1st plant since last Thursday after being jarred for 5 weeks. It's still a bit wet for a joint but sooo nice in a pipe.

Boveda brought it up to 62% from 55% within a day. Still is potent. Just harsh.

Smells wonderful when it's broken up or I crush a bud but smells like hay sitting in the jar. Maybe I should crush a few up in each jar.
I think I will jar them up early tomorrow. It will be 4 days since cut and hang at 55% rh. Maybe they will smell nice from the start.

That^^ is why I moved to paper bag drying. Humidity in my closet at the time was upper 30's as I had plants in flower. It's saying at 55% in there on it's own now but I think I'm sticking with bags. Dries a little slower and I toss a little hygrometer in there and know exactly where I'm at. I'll probably try jarring at a little higher RH in the bag this time as it's going to be higher in the closet. Dunno if I'm thinking right but I'm gonna find out. lol. LAst time I went for a reading right between the RH of the closet and where I wanted to be in jars. I figured surrounding air affected the reading in the bag. <shrug>

I haven't checked myself yet, but a friend was over yesterday to take the 400w HID on consignment and he said Benny's has 1/2 gal and gallon jars. I've been in Ma over 10 yrs, never been in a Benny's, yet. lol

Benny's is a chain in RI. Kind of like ace hardware but more k-marty. Ocean State Job lot (also in MA) has some good deals on jars from time to time. They don't always have stuff, so you have to check often.

I didn't know this. Like I said, I haven't even set foot in one. I know there's one in every southcoast Ma town from Seekonk to Plymouth though. I pass 2 on my 20 minute drive to work. Guess it's time I visit one.
