Need advice on temps in my flower tent *updated with pics!*

Hello all, I don't think I've ever posted her but I'm usually around looking at others posts.

2x4x5 tent
6 inch Inline in tent
4 inch carbon filter in tent
4 inch inline for intake outside of tent
400 watt HPS on reflector hood (not cooled)

Here is my issue: I have a 6 inch fan in the tent. From left to right, it goes carb filter, fan, ducting out of the tent. Because this was not enough to cool the tent, I took ducting, Jerry rigged it around my a.c. window unit next to tent and have that going ducting from ac>4 inch inline> ducting into the tent blowing under the light. While this made my thermometer read about 73 to 75 for a day, all of a sudden, temp jumped about 15-20 degrees over night. All I did was move the ducting more under the light. I don't know if it's a crazy coincidence and it changed the temp that much but I'm not buying it. The intake ducting is still blowing out 64 degree air into the tent.

Now, I have the thermometer right on the pot with the hps right on it so I'm not sure if it's giving me a bad reading. What confuses me is that is how I've had it this whole time so it either crapped to bed or the reading is correct. I am at work and posting this from mobile so I can't upload photos yet but I will in a few hours of my setup.

Controlling temps really makes you want to give up. I can see how why so many people have issues. It's all about the hear coming off of the light.

Thank you all for any advice or help you can give!

Edit: temp outside of tent is in the 60s from the ac

Of the air directly outside of the tent is 60 degrees bring it directly in through a bottom hole and try to eliminate the ducting as much as possible. Also any 90 degree bend will lower the air flow a lot. Maybe your 6 in is sucking the cold air out to fast? I have never grown in a tent as I usually rent a 2 bedroom and turn master with the bathroom into my flower room. What I have to do is use 10 000btu of cooling while lights are on to keep it cool. But if I run a exhaust fan that is way more CFM than my incoming air with the 2 5000 Btu air conditioners than my temps start to raise because it's not letting my cooler air sit in the room long enough to cool anything it just gets sucked right out. So I run 2 4 in vortex 240 CFM fans. One has a charcoal filter and sits in the corner of the room scrubbing the air not exhausting it from the room. The other is mounted vertical filter on top fan then ducting straight down into the forced air floor vent. So only 240 CFM is leaving the room the other 240 is scrubbing. If I exhaust both my temps go from 74 to 82. Just my 2 cents and what works for me. Hope you get it under control. Heat is a bitch. Ever thought of getting a window ac. Cut to fit a hole in the tent. Set it on a table or something and use a 5000 Btu ac to cool your small tent? It would be an intake as well. It would heat the room the rent was is as AC units put off quite a bit. But if you can cool the room the tent is in it might be an option? I have 1 of my ACS mounted in the wall inside a closet that shares its wall with my grow room. The closet gets hot when the ac runs but in the winter it helps warm the house a ton. In the room the closet is in I have a beast of an swamp cooler that has a 4 hp motor that cooler is new this year. It has no problem cooling the room off when it's warmed from the ac in the summer. Cheers and happy growing.
