You need to run them at 720mA(80mA each 8S string x 9P= 720mA) to get the same efficiency like the H-Series strip(which is 8S6P at 480mA:6=80mA). This way the diodes works with the same current and efficiency.
The H-Series is rated 50°C and the other to 65°C and the chips work with 125mA not with 80mA and therefor less efficient.
You can drive them at 720mA but you would probably not safe much money.

Clearly he understands the finer points of this more than i do and you should put more weight in his opinions. Im just a pothead who is geeking out on light technology, lmao.

Is anyone running these strictly for veg? I was thinking about running 8-10 of the 562d strips at 700mA to create an efficient 3x3 veg light but wanted to see what others thought. I have COB fixtures for flower so I want these to be for veg only.

The hlg-185h-c700 can easily run 10 strips and stay within the molex connector limits. I could run them at 1050mA for the same price but according to the datasheet very little is gained by ramping up the current.

If you look on page 38 goodro wilson described the veg light he built when i asked him about it. im sure theres a couple others buried somewhere in this thread. i think his clone/mom light was eb strips and his veg light qb boards. Essentially a QB board and samsung H are the same guts just in different configurations.

Again, new guy learning but assuming he understands it right, if you jump from 700mA to 1050mA its approx a 30% more power draw. You will end up having a lower efficacy tho so the actual jump in light would be closer to like 20-25% more with the losses being put out in extra heat. The thing is where its a veg light you dont want the kind of light you would for flower so i would agree that the softer would be better for veg. More knowledgeable ppl can correct me if thats wrong but things like a 100w light for veg vs 400w in flower is more the norm i believe.

Damn guess i was right that the $9.75 pricing was a mistake by Arrow, they are now back to $13+ like all the other color temps. My 16 are mid-route being shipped and should arrive monday or tuesday.

So glad i didnt hestitate and ordered asap when i saw the price drop, now i wish i had ordered even more than the 16 i got. The order i made thursday came to $210CAD, same order today is $280CAD.

They change their prices all the time. I have a bunch of Samsung influx L04 that I picked up for like $7 each.

Good to know, guess i need to just be patient but have a quick trigger finger when it hits the numbers i like. What made me think it was an error is that for all the different H series strips in different lengths and temp colors only one went down in price and 2-3 days later it matched all the other color temps.

These F-Series strips, gen.3 are a really good find, 72 SMD561c instead of just 48 and still $ 1 less!!!
Seems Samsung has a better yield on top bins, which would explain the cheaper price.
If they use the same binnings (S6), then 4 strips ( 4x72 = 288 ) can adequately replace a quantumboard / 54v ( 8x36 = 288 )




I've made a quick comparision with Sammy's online calculator tool. Price for strips are from digikey(>25pcs) to replace 6 boards.
F-strips are in 8S9P configuration so at 700mA each 561c is running with ~10mA less or 77,8mA for a good 2,5lm/w plus in efficacy.
QB/54v have 18S16P config so at 1400mA each string gets 87,5mA.

Seems we have finally find a cheaper solution..
The only shit is, they are listed, but nowhere available, LOL!

Umm when i read that i dont read the same thing you do. They are seperate columns to tell you raw numbers, they arent a ratio to each other.

It says the Min efficacy is 161 lm/w the typical is 179lm/w and the max is 197lm/w.

For voltage it says the MIN is 20.8 the typical is 22.5 and the max is 24.2

What your mistake is thinking that its a ratio chart or something, it doesnt say that at the min voltage of 20.8 it gives the min efficacy. They are two seperate things. Also you read the typical current of 480 to be the max current which is just wrong. That sheet doesnt list the max current and if you look it up for that strip its 1200mA.

Awful glad i didnt just accept your driver advice as correct because it didnt seem correct to me and when i questioned it everyone acted like i was being a dick. It would have made me waste $150.00 but i bet noone is going to apologize for their reaction to me now are they.

I've been thinking over this most COBS claim 50000hour lifespan, which especially on a veg light can be a few years.
At the speed at which LED technology improves, you may not even want to use these longer than that as something even more efficient may be out.

EB strips are the only way to get there for cheaper until the price drops again on the H-series or the F-series becomes available.

Otherwise the QB's are the best value.

Hey Buddy!
Assuming I wanted to build a 300w lamp, I would take 24 F-series strips of 560mm and an HLG-320H-C2100B.
I would always connect 6 strips in series and the whole 4 times in parallel.
Would be about 135v and 525mA per cluster, efficiency: 58%, 284w net., 302w total, 175PAR/w..

I'm not here to quarrel, i was given bad advice, i questioned said bad advice, and ever since then nogod and baud have repeatedly attacked me. I find it amusing to be honest. Ive done nothing but have conversations about LED in this forum until i was attacked and i still dont understand why, to me its just funny tho. Their life offline must suck pretty bad if this is how they behave.

Yep, i came here asking for help and trying to learn, all i got was condescending attitudes like i should already understand it all and if i dont i'm "spoon fed" when clearly ive spent 20+ hours of research and consistently asked intelligent questions. I was given what i thought wasnt right advice, asked for more feedback and then have been repeatedly attacked since. My patience is gone with those jerkoffs and i will not be polite to them anymore. Now im a "cancer" because of it. This is all because of 3 particular people and only in this one thread. everyone else around here has been awesome.
