Closet grow - SOG

Ok so I just finished my first EVER harvest, and its safe to say im ADDICTED.:weed:

I grew outdoor this season and didnt run into any problems until around week 9 of flowering.

BUD ROT. I chopped it down like two weeks early and im not satisfied, so its time to get an indoor setup going. :fire:

----------

Here is the plan.

I have a closet that is about 8 feet tall, 10 feet wide, and about 2.5 feet deep.

I dont think i'll beable to get more then two plants deep and maybe like 4-5 wide. I plan on growing like 8-10 plants for me and another california medical marijuana patient.

This room is probably the coldest room in the entire house as it does not get any sun throughout the day, and is very dark as well, so I hope tempature wont be a huge issue.

I plan on keeping the plants relatively short, while using the SoG method.

I was wondering how large of a light I will need, and any tips/helpful information regarding exhaust and air movement.. There is a window very close to the closet that I have been thinking about venting to.

This would be my first indoor grow so I just need some help getting on the right track.

Thanks in advanced.

i would say, get youself like couple of HPS (which ever take your fancy 150, 250, 400, 600 or even 1000) if your going for the big one then only need 1, but if your thinkin of using CFL your need a shit load of them talking maybe 20 x 23 watt bulbs and have them all placed at the top at first, once your into flowering then place them in a arce shape of the top, so the light surrounds the plant, make them have more buds then normal... personally if your going to grow that many plants then i would go HPS, it would be a easyer option for you!

good luck and happy growing

I'd also go with HPS. Not only will you get the best quality light (until LEDs get their blinking heads out their asses) but they'll also help warm up that chilly room. The more light, the bigger and denser the buds. Good luck man and don't forget to start a grow journal!!!!

Well I am currently building a CFL box just for fun, so I indeed planned on going with HPS for the closet grow.

What im wondering is what im supposed to do for air circulation and exhaust.

Can I just have a passive intake like the CFL boxes with an exhaust fan pulling out the hot air through the window?

Thanks for the help guys

and i'll be sure to get a journal going for both my CFL box and closet grow. D:

Exactly. You can put a carbon filter on the exhaust if you're worried about odor. Check the DIY section for lots of cool homemade filters. The size fan you need should be able to exhast your room in 5 minutes. Check the fans CFM rating against the cubic feet of space in your setup. Lots of ducting and filters will lose you some CFM's so keep that in mind.

Zero trans fat, thank you very much.

So I will need an exhaust and a fan blowing on the plants for good strong stocks.

Do I need an intake?

An intake? Yes. An intake fan? Probably not. Your space seems small enough that a passive intake should suffice. I believe the passive intake should be twice the size of your exhaust but I'll need to brush up that.
