Very interesting I will have to have a read on this substra as the shop "ha" sales person! Said this was right for a recirculating system. I have not had any issue's with my ph really.

I add my a and b aqua vega and then adjust ph to 5.8 which my plants seem to love. This may rise over a few days to 5.9/6 but never above.

New to dwc and only over grown soil so don't think my plants looked too bad with it.
Not running sterile and my roots did suffer with high temp briefly. Bit the bullet and just bought a chiller and since then they have gone wild.

Anyway bit of point but what do you think to my girls

Thanks for the question.
It is confirmed, use Substra not Aqua in the Under current system.
Aqua has a Bicarbonate buffer added to help control pH. Forcing so much air through the system rapidly dissolves not only Oxygen, but also Carbon dioxide (and any other gas). CO2 actually forces out other gases like Oxygen, rapidly becoming dominant. It also combines with the Bicarb buffer and causes the pH to go wild, particularly up. This serves to change the form of the nutrient ions to unavailable to the plant which hurts the plant rapidly. Using Substra avoids this issue. You still have to deal with all the other issues this system has, but not the nutrients and the pH relationship it brings. You will have to set and monitor the pH as you would with any other nutrient, but you will not have the buffer in the Aqua helping the speed at which it occurs.

Really strange and you say this info came from canna?
Im still using aqua without issues and about to switch to aqua flores.
Do you grow yourself? what system do you use and what nutes you using.

Came across thus forum and had to say hi. I'm using an Under Current also with Canna nutes - just switched to the aqua flores also. I agree with the dark color of their solution. I think it's dye - and I think that they have a lot more water in their mix that others maybe. My system came with small bottles of UC's veg A and B that they designed for the system - and the sheer volume of nutes added from UC to Canna is literally by a factor of maybe 100. Maybe comparatively it works out to the same price - I don't know. But, with UC if I had to add 40mL A+B with Canna it would be 400+ (for a 64 gallon rez...). The UC solutions were colorless, where the Canna turns that brown.

For the next run I'm going to switch to UC nutes

I had initially planned on vegging in buckets but had bad, bad root rot issue - some of which was caused my mixing to Canna's schedule - just crazy too strong. After much trial and error in rehabbing the roots, below is how they are doing now. I ended up cutting the Rhizotonic and Cannazyme. I noticed that the Cannazyme contributed to jelly formations that caught all over the roots. I'll use 1/4 strength Rhizo for seedlings and veg but that's it. Cannazyme = Can Of Slime

I know this is an old thread but for anyone new viewing Canna says not to use Aqua for dwc r rdwc systems. They instead say to use canna Substra. The high amount of air in the system throws aqua out of balance. I know that aqua was originally made for these type systems but canna told me they made a mistake.

Did Mr. Canna tell you this, or was it his wife, Mrs. Canna?
On their Dutch website (it is a Dutch brand) they still state that Canna Aqua is made for recirculating systems like NFT and Aeroponics.
So the person telling you that is either a moron, or not from Canna.

Ive run canna aqua in dwc for a 5 or 6 years, just switched to canna substra soft ( there are hard and soft water versions I run RO ) about a year ago. Way way better for these systems, Ph stays rock solid I never have to adjust. and the part A isnt as dark as the aqua Part A so my roots are nice and white now.
+1 for canna substra in dwc/rdwc
also definately stay away from rhizo and canazym i dropped them years ago they only cause problems.
i just use Cal/mag, Substra a+b, pk13/14 in flower and sometimes silica depending on strain.
and cut the dosage in half from thier schedual, whichbis true for just about any nutrient maker

I'm still using canna aqua. Bought a chiller and run dutchmaster zone and now my roots are glowing white

Been using the Canna aqua line for this grow. Using it not as strong as the canna site says.
Am about a week to 10 days from harvest.

My roots are white.

Which line should I use for ebb and flow with rockwool?
