its all good. orca is liquid, great white is powder. I wanted the powder so I can use in coco too. Small quantities

edit: I was pretty sure i checked the ingredients before, but i was pretty lit then and I am now, soooo i checked again. lol.

there is some overlap. but great white has much more variety than orca in general. so, i'll run all three: hydroguard, orca, and great white.

hydroguard active ingredient is inside both orca and great white, but I dont want it to go to waste!

Correct, from my understanding, The benefit of using hydroguard is that it contains a very high amount of one "super" strain of bacteria that you really want a concentration of. So even though the other two products contain this strain, the concentration is not near as high as in hydroguard.

Yes sir, powder is fine. I use SubcultureB and it's a powder.

ya, this is my first DWC run, i'm learning. when i finish the hydroguard i dont plan on replacing, ill just run the other two bennies

Correct, from my understanding, The benefit of using hydroguard is that it contains a very high amount of one "super" strain of bacteria that you really want a concentration of. So even though the other two products contain this strain, the concentration is not near as high as in hydroguard.

Yup it's the bennies that allow this. I too run high bucket temps, into the low 80's during the start of my grows till the plants canopy shades the bucket. I run Hydroguard and have never had a problem with root rot and grow large plants.

For bennies, I use only Southern AG's Garden Friendly Fungicide (liquid, cheap on Amazon) and it fixed my root rot. I've noticed that I can have huge PH swings and the plants don't care as well. Get your bacteria right, you can be a shitty gardner and still be successful. Temps in my tents range from as low as 60F at night up to 90F during the day, humidity is poorly controlled, and frankly I'm not a great grower. Its OK because its just for me, but with bennies my plants are healthy and sticky. I love the idea of adding the water pump waterfall though, I have been using just bubblers. ReCharge seems to be super popular, so plan on trying that as soon as I use up my current bottle of the Fungicide.

so, ive been running no chiller in my dwc bucket for about 3 weeks now, water temps get well into the 70's at times. roots look happy tho! lots of fresh white root growth. hydroguard, orca, and great white are doing a great job

Have you ever used or experimented with SOS (Super Organic Stimulator) as well? It's a concoction of bennies that were specifically chosen for their hardiness in a variety of conditions. Did some research and its got some pretty glowing reviews. Would love to put away my chiller as well and am interested to know how these bacteria and fungi interact. I read recently that Trichoderma may eat other bacteria and can prevent mycorrhizal inoculation so too much overlap may be a waste. Really interested in this topic.

Just following up again on this. Still running strong, clean roots, and temps havent been below 70 since around the last post above. Still using hydroguard, orca, and great white. Good to know I can run DWC without a chiller whenever I want!

Yes, I think so many people saying that you must have a water chiller for temps at or above 70 degrees to run DWC scares many away from even trying...and I can't blame them, a chiller is not cheap and not easy to use for us folks using standalone buckets. I love standalone's compared to recirculating systems...just for personal mobility reasons, plus growing different strains. Anyways, glad to hear your still growing strong Visa! Keep on keepin' on.

thanks for the well wishes. i agree, the whole chiller thing scares folks away from DWC/RDWC. i was suspicious of no chiller, but ive been proven wrong, which is great in this case. happy growin everybody

Where I grow room temps are > 80-90*+ 7 months of the year

My rezes are ~ 3 gallons, without help they are the same as room temps

For years I used air stones, then read about replacing them with lp pump. My smallest pump is 160 gph. I did not realize that running 24/7 would bring the water to > 95*s. 2 days of this definitely damaged my roots and consequently the primary leafs, which probably affected the final weight

I made a couple changes, replaced a kitty litter container with a Igloo cooler, put the pump on a deep cycle timer 5/15 off, employed a Hydro Halo drip ring for added agitation, + I replace blue ice blocks 2-3xs/day. Will be starting with this once the babies are ready to move to the main lights

How does the use of a different pump (water not air?) solve the root rot issues? I cant picture it as ive never used either methods.

Great info on this thread. The one thing I don't see in the mix is SILICA. Why is that? I grow in a warm area, and add it for the "Stress" factor. Among other reasons.

I use silica as a foliar feed and my temps are quite high at the moment, only one of my 6 is showing signs of heat stress.

Definitely following this thread. For my first grow i started DWC, to much heat. Pulled them all and planted in soil. They are doing great. But would like to go back to DWC. My whole concept of DWC was that I would NOT have to pump water.
Watching closely. And will probably try DWC again after this crop is harvested
