Smurfy's Northeastern Guerilla Grow - 2017

Hello all, this year I will be doing an OUTDOOR grow with a mix of photoperiod plants and autoflowers. Because of where I live, I am doing autos as a type of insurance. I don't want a September frost or mold to wipe out my photo crop and leave me with nothing.

Photoperiod strains:
Roughly 40 white widow (regular)
10 AK-47 seeds

45x feminized autoflowers (all from msnl -- Critical Thunder, White Widow Max, Lemon OG, GDP)


The only seedlings so far are 3 Hash Plant and 4 Big Blue Cheese also from MSNL. Here they are this Sunday:


I just went and germinated 15 of the regular white widow seeds tonight.

They are now in a plastic bag in a dark place before I transplant them to solo cups. Not sure on the seedling soil I want to use yet as I want to go really cheap. Any recommendations?

I also have 10 AK-47 seeds at my friends house along with another 20 white widows that are all in the process of germination. That is where the t-5 setup is (this is a joint grow between the two of us). The rest of the photos are getting germinated in the next week or so along with a FEW autos for a mid July harvest. I will be keeping this log updated throughout the year for those who are interested.

I'm getting exited for the grow season!!

You're right, most white widow strains I've seen have like 10 week flower which would be mid Oct pretty sure so no way I could do that!

I think he might have cross-bred or selected earlier finishing ones? I've helped him trim before and he usually cuts down before the end of September, so I'm guessing they might be cross bred with random shit to the point that this "white widow" might just be a token name he gave the plants lol.

Yes, absolutely. I just plan on putting the autos (3 month life cycle) outside after 3 weeks under t5's indoors. I will do that in Mid May through Mid June so they finish well before September and frosts start rolling in.

W/ the mold issue, I'm hoping the higher temps don't provide such an environment for mold to thrive as mold LOVES cool temps. The autos are getting germinated 5-15 at a time over the course of 6-7 weeks just so I can have a continual harvest, therefore a longer window for harvesting and less chances for one bad rain/mist to wipe everything out.

I would have to disagree on your mold loves cool temps,from my experience mold can / will ruin plants in cooler temps but not anything like the damage with temps are hot and humid.do a little research in last years New England outdoor thread. Lots of experience posted especially from your neck of the woods

ya I have seen autos melt in july in full sun

I wish you the best of luck! I think this year will be a big learning experience for you as you realize how much shit can go wrong haha and how difficult it is to care for large numbers of plants especially guerilla style. I would urge you to consider ordering atleast one pack of getaways beans, surely you can afford 60 bucks considering you will be investing atleast 10 times that amount on soil and random things throughout the season. If you do, go for the R2! I will be watching closely and I'm sure you will get any help required from the plethora of experienced growers on here.

Be careful germinating on a paper plate. I did that and covered it up but the paper plate sucked all the water out of the paper towel

I had to use coffee filters years ago as i ran out of paper towels and have never gone back. Also plastic sandwich baggies are much better then plates as they never dry out. I had all beans just pop within 16 hours usually it's 1-2 days.

Okay, so a little update on the plants.

Here are the 3 Hash Plant and 4 Big Blue Cheese last Friday:




Here they are this morning


As you can see in the bottom of the screen, we have 18 AK and white widow seeds already germinated and started in the tray. About the 15 seeds I put in the towel earlier, I am going to the store today to buy some soil and solo cups to get them started in. I'm not sure how many have popped but I will post later today (I'm keeping these in the window).

So on the 15 white widows seeds started last Friday, we have a 100% success rate! I actually ended up with 16 sprouts (not sure what happened). Last year from the same batch of seeds, 13 of 15 turned female (1 male and 1 hermie) so I am hoping for similar rates again this year.


I used some random organic potting soil I found at Wal Mart. It has some worm castings in it and some other light amendments. 1 cubic ft was only $6.77 so I got it.


Used 16 oz cups. Planted all 16 seeds and gave them a light watering. Looking forward to seeing the progress!

I would buy some hardy earlier finishing Getaway seeds like the Seawarp, Poison Warp, or the Stumble weed. But I actually don't have the cash right now. 10$ a seed a bit much for me, even if they do pay themselves back AND finish very conveniently! Too bad UMO sucked up all my funds for tuition, though I do have some money put away for soil and ferts at least. When Summer break comes (May 13) I'll be working 50 hours a week but it will be too late to really start those by then.

I got an average of 2-4 ounces on those ones in 5 gallon pots, got 7 off of one!

yea if ya know what you are doing already container growing is alot harder then putting them in the ground
