Need growroom set up ideas...

Buddies been thinking about revamping, making a new spot. Currently have a 4 X 4 space, using ebb flow flood tray. 70 gallon rez. 600w lamp.

Cons of this set up -the 70 gallon rez is a pain in the ass to clean and change the water in. I want to ask if there are other ways of using lots less water so its easy to change.

Going to expand to a 4X8 space most likely, so double. Whats the easiest hydro set up to go with? And should i go with 2 600w lamps, or bust out 2 1000w? Open to all ideas

i personally would use 2 x 1000 in a 4 x 8 but could be done with a single 1 x 1000
the 70 gallon res seems like its about twice as big as it needs to be
a 4x4 should only require about a 35 gallon res so if you swap to the 4 x 8 you could keep the same 70 gallon res.
as for ease of cleaning you could put a pair of valves in to allow you to pump the res to waste for emptying via a garden hose teed into your fill tube then just clean it and refill it and set your valves back for operating mode and away you go

I thought you need to fill the flood tray half way about? the 70 gallon rez fills the tray about half way after 15 minutes. Would the 70gal rez work in 4X8?

I would disagree with what was previously posted and say run 2x600w lights. By far more efficient and more plant friendly. 1000w is total overkill and most expert commercial growers have all gotten away from them. Call 10 grow stores and at least 9 of them will say the same thing. As for the rez, have you thought about going to an aeroponic system? They are great! You can run the water to waste, no muss no fuss.

For ebb & flow on 8x4 planter use 100g reservoir and 800gph pump.

agreed, you can find that you can run 2 600w more efficently than 1 1000 or even 2 1000....Overkill is a nice way of putting it...

if you had 1 or 2 tubes comming out so that you could drain or ad water when needed so that you don't have to take it out or w/e to just fill it

a 1000w would be good to you if it was on a track and always moving insted of being in 1 area

thanks for all the advice. Maybe ill go with 2 600w. But im more concerned with weather i should stick with flood drain or not. It works fine for me, but ill research some aeroponics. IF anyone has some good links, feel free...thanks
