5 sounds about right. I hate hackers. My site was hacked twice in the past... but I have too much security now. Hacker proof. Anyway, yeah, hackers deserve no mercy. Throw the book at em. Hang em up by their nuts, tape their eyelids opened and force em to watch fart porn and scrape a chalk board right next to their ear.

Make it a double cell, because if you think the Republicans haven't used the laws..oppps eroded laws to check Dem. emails under the guise of "National sec" shit, your mad...sorry friend, but the bottom line is the right is the masters of dirty... Valerie Plame comes to mind... lets weigh out reading emails to ratting out a CIA operative...not even close...

Where's the outrage against this guy? I know we have a platoon or two who post here that's outraged over "Bush's" hacking of the citizens Email accounts, right? So ... where's the outrage here? Hey ... this is the son of a Democrat legislator!

I bet Chris Matthews and Michael Moore are preparing a documentary on Democrat hacking as we speak. ~lol~

I'm outraged by it (private/personal emails addresses are just that, private/personal), but don't start saying that Republicans are above the same thing.... They just haven't been caught yet.

Hey All !!!

Anyone who is familiar with the Internet should be aware of the hackers, they are a pretty common thing these days.
There are ways to secure Internet transmissions

I am Outraged that a person who can not secure their own email,
may be responsible for the security of our Nation. :wall:

Since it was a personal email account, the hacker should be treated as if they hacked any one of our accounts.
If it were an official government account, then it would be a another story all together.

But thats just how I rollitup.

haha of course it was Palin's fault, who's else could it be?

He guessed at the password? Hmm, there is a lot of words to guess from. How much time did he spend at 'guessing'? Did he start at the 'A's'?

National Security concerns? Really?

Perhaps it was a school project? Why not my email? (who would want mine?)

What was the intent and purpose I wonder? If any. Hmmm.

Attacks on the victim... (or is it just piling on) maybe you should stay away from rape cases if you don't like the victim.

I think it's a little overboard calling this guy a hacker. He guessed her password. It was "popcorn".
Um, I'm pretty sure that he reset her password to popcorn. He knew her birthdate, her husband's birthdate, and some other personal information that's publicly available. Then he reset the password and BAMMO, in he got.

Just sayin'. ;)

If it's his first offense, a couple years of probation would probably suffice, we're not dealing with a dangerous person here, just an ignorant child.

Palin should be removed from office pending an official investigation into whether or not she had used an unapproved, insecure, non-government email for government business to circumvent data retention laws.

I think that's reasonable.

You're right. According to arstechnica.com

"The password she chose was not "popcorn". That was what the "hacker" chose, then posted it to /b/ for all to peruse. Other reports say the "hacker" used the security question to gain access to the 'password change' feature, so there is no way they could have known the original password."

My mistake.

She's not entirely without blaim though.

"Though criticism of Palin's use of the Yahoo account had largely focused on worries about transparency, Donald Mitchell, the attorney for an Alaska citizen-watchdog who had been seeking disclosure of the governor's e-mail records, also broached security concerns. "There's a reason the governor should be using her own official e-mail channels, because of security and encryption," Mitchell told The Washington Post, "She's running state business out of Yahoo?"
