Music for Plants?

Just wondering if anyone has ever tried experimenting with different types of music for their plants, just curious. I saw this study once where they had to 2 buckets of rice and one had positive reinforcement and the other with negative stuff like insults and one was edible after a month and the other was completely black and rotten. do you think the same may apply to plants?

There is an episode of Mythbusters where they did that and found it made no difference.

I thought I read somewhere that plants actually do respond somewhat to sound.. Not sure.

la9 is right, however, i still do believe that loving your plants(not physically) does still work so stick with that. if you think that its making a difference to your plants to by all means tune in and drop out

la9 is wrong, I believe they said plausible, and went on to praise the beans grown under sound influence - were tastier and bigger.

there is a lot of info on this... I don't seem to have the link... But there was a topic like this a while back where they linked to a site all about this and studies done in the 80s. It was about positive music, and also timing of use, such as 0hr, 3hr, and 8hr of use... 3hr was best.

Meh. Do it or don't do it, it can't hurt to try.

The DoveSong Foundation -- The effect of Music on Plants (The Plant Experiments)

also google sonic bloom

But, one thing to keep in mind is that the studies conducted on manufacturer workers and plants showed the same data. If you play continuous it gets boring and repetitive and slows production...

Plants want music to be positive, but also LOUD. LOUDER than you and I could handle. They would be better suited listening to positive music at a rock concert ;)

ie. using Hyper Sonic sound speakers at 120 dB
