The 2nd Iraq war was unnecessary. WMD was poor intelligence, or the original 'fake news', or maybe both.

But after you collapse a gov't. like Bush and the neocon-artists did, in a region ripe with terrorists, you're pretty much damned if you do and damned if you don't.

Then they blame Obama who inherited the no win situation.

Remember when the Bush admin said we'd be welcomed as conquering heros?

Clueless fucks couldn't plan a party let alone a military action.

War should be a last resort, and toppling a government creates a vacuum with unpredictable results.

We need to bring our military industrial complex to heel or they'll destroy us, along with the rest of the planet.

i called us the terrorists and ISIS the freedom fighters fending off foreign invaders and people wanted to kill me.
That doesn't surprise me. The imperialist propaganda runs deep in this country. My own father worked in the State Department's own Bureau of Politico-Military Affairs (I wish I still had the coffee cup he sent me. It was personalized!), and he sounded proud of the fact that we're the world's largest arms dealer.

He seemed to think it was our sacred duty to police the world. I found that idea hard to swallow.

Cool story, bro.

There is so much that the average citizen has no fucking clue about. War is one of them. Carry on with the bashing though, I wont stop you but I will tell you that veteran is full of shit.

First, I think I can lay claim to knowing a bit more than whatever 'average citizen' you may be referring to.

Second, that veteran had his boots on the ground, which is also dramatically more than most Americans ever manage.

For the last 20 years, America has pursued a policy of bombing anyone who we disagree with. We've bombed a lot of countries in that time, and the blowback is inevitable, and it will be unpredictable.

Worse, the corporatists in our Federal government seem bent on cutting funding for soft power in exchange for acquiring more bombs and the drones (breathing or otherwise) with which to deliver them.

I'm disgusted and ashamed at the carnage bring carried out in my name around the world, whether it finds its way into our media bubble or not.

Surely we can find more positive and productive things to do with our national treasure and technology. If we do not, we will find that sooner or later we will no longer be the dominant power in the world- at which point we will find ourselves with few friends who will stand with us.

That day will come far sooner than most expect, because the modern world has accelerated everything- including the rise and fall of Nations.

How many Iraqis did ISIS slaughter? Muslims? Women and children? How about gays?
How many have Americans slaughtered?

Saying the average American is clueless about the wars carried out in our name is EXACTLY MY POINT.

How many innocent people on the other side of the planet have to die for you to feel safe in your bed?

Speaking for myself, the bigger that number climbs- and it's in the millions already- the LESS safe I feel.
