Love the anodized red LowTempPlates brotha! 4x7's? Yeah, my buddy who ended up getting the widow had that same complaint, but that was the only complaint he had! Being a welder for Bath Iron Work (builds the destroyers & the new DDG ships) he is a welder by trade and was able to clean things up regarding those issues and is still loving it and (knock on wood) still yet to have any issues.
Yup, 4x7's :-)
I welded in my trade, but unfortunately i haven't worked my trade in a few years and don't have access to a buzzbox right now. It works excellent with my clamps on there. I'm sure i'll locate a welder here soon though. Maybe i'll just ponie up and buy one?

Are the larger plates necessary? Just curious. Im getting ready to buy a set and if the rosin bags come in 3x5 then wouldnt the 4x7 be unecessary, the thoughts running through my head atm

For my money, there are 3 factors worth keeping in mind, when it comes to plate size. 1) How much volume you need to produce (obvious, I know). 2) What size bags will you use (and how much they'll cost you). 3) And whether there's a decent pre-press available for that size bag, at a fair price.

The dake 10t press is available on zoro.com for $350 w/ free shipping in the continental us. 15-20% off coupons are common and they even have a dumb app you can play to get discount codes.
For a 3x5 plate 10t is perfect. Jumping up in plate size will give you less max PSI. I'm doing 20g presses with ease on my set up and could probably do 30g no problem. Heres a quick vid of a 20g press on my 10t low temp plate set up.

Those flowers were pressed about 7 days after harvest, so pretty fresh. After I let the rosin sit out for a couple days it buddered up nicely and smells super dank, its honestly some of my favorite stuff I've made thus far.

Zoro retroed the coupon for 50$ off this morning. 10/10 customer service

Interesting. I have yet to press, just doing a ton of research. How are you drying? Open Air? I plan to play around with freeze drying with dry ice to 65%...

Also seems like low temp may be coming out with a 4x7 cage in a couple weeks. holding off for that...

Glad you could save some money. I just got a 20% off coupon in the mail today only valid on april 26-27...coupon code is SHOWFLOW. That brings the price down to $276 shipped free in the continental US...pretty damn good deal for the quality.

FYI, there is a big decrease in total PSI when you jump up to a 4x7 plate. 20,000lbs on 28 sq. in. is only 714psi. On a 3x5 plate the max is 1333psi. For small squishes this doesn't matter, but if you are trying to maximize the surface area of your plates and press a lot of material at once you should get a 20t for the 4x7 plates.

well I think I will be buying prefab bags that are 3x6 , and I dont plan to ever push my press to the max, 80% rule all the way. 16,000/18= 888psi, which i well above what people are saying is needed. 500 psi seems to be pretty standard from what I have read, you disagree? I like the larger press for comfort and because I can always press smaller...

I just got that same press from Zoro, the b10 drake. They are owned by Grainger, so they have backing. Grainger sells that press for $430.

I got mine when they had their 25% off sale end of March. Then I got an additional 10% off for complaining over scrapes and paint chips.

End of the day paid about $233 shipped to my door.

The plates I got from some dude on instagram. @clean_extractions.

$350 american for a 3x3 dual controller setup. Check them out. A 3x6 was only $80 more at $430.

Im just making personal use so a 3x3 is ideal.

Yeah, that baileigh 20 looks like it's some serious quality. I might give my black widow to a friend and upgrade. But don't get me wrong, the black widow is pretty killer for the money, def gets it done. Only problem i have with it, is the design of the bracket that holds the ram. It's wobblier than fuck. I put clamps on it, but prob gonna put some welds on it.

How long are you pressing for. I just built a press and trying to dial things in. Any advice will be helpful.

I don't know what tonnage is best but I'm wondering why nobody ever tried a tube and plunger type oil press, just fill the tube and press the plunger (rod) down. The bottom would sit on a metal plate with shallow grooves in it for oil to run out. Some would probably ooze out around the plunger, unless it was a very tight fit, but not that big a deal really.

How would you heat it up? Digital heat gun. No special element required. You could make any kind of metal press you want and heat it externally with the heat gun, which have surprisingly precise temperature control. Heating elements; a few hundred bucks, heat gun; around 100, plus you can use it to heat your dab nail or whatever. Can't do that with element plates. This baby here goes from 120-1200 f.
