So about 14 years ago I bought a couple of HPS lights from a local farmer's barn he was tearing down. I grew one cycle in a closet with crappy bag seeds, a crappy yield but decent smoke. I would have done another cycle but we welcomed a little bundle of joy shortly after that and I felt that growing in my infant's closet was not the way to go.
Here we are in 2017 and Massachusetts voters have made it legal so here we go.
I am growing in a 3' x 3' tent with two x VIPARSPECTRA Reflector-Series 300W LED Grow Lights (I think they are 150W actual each.)
I also added 2 x 100W equivalent 6500k bulbs with reflectors to bulk up the white light. I also ended up building a bracket for the lights because the hanging mounts that came with the lights are solid but hung down like a foot and a half so I was not going to raise the lights up very far should I need to later. This allows me to raise the lights to the top of the tent should I need to. I am venting out of a window to avoid needing a filter for odor. I am in a pretty wooded area and I may or may not require a carbon filter or something. We will see. I am in the northeast and it's cold in my basement right now so I am running a small ceramic heater on a thermostat switch.
I am growing in Fox Farm Ocean Forest soil with some extra perlite. You will notice in my early pics (first two weeks or so) I was in a different soil. I had started in MG potting soil. After some more reading and mushroom growth (lol) I decided to move them to the FoxFarm. Should have did that reading sooner but the transplant went fine. I am running a standard 18/6 for veg. They are in 3 gallon fabric pots.
On to seeds. A friend has been growing for a couple of years legally and says that he gave me some feminized White Widow. The seeds themselves did not look awesome so I germed 5 in hopes that 4 would work out but all 5 germinated so I went with it. OK, onto some growth and feel free to comment at will.
