Newbie DWC

Hi all. I am new with dwc. I have done a lot of reading and feel I have control with most of the aspects with dwc. The only thing is that I have read and been told different things when to transfer my seedlings to the dwc system. Some say after 14 days and some say right after the pop up. Mine is now 7 days old and roots are coming out under the rockwool on one . Can I transfer them to my system? Pics attached

whats the water temps ? and what are you doing to keep pythum away?

Thanks for your reply @VRZ711 I have read your thread already My water temp is stable at 71, I have a water pump in there to that I really don't need so if I take out that I think the temp will drop a couple of more degrees. What is phytum?

Little update:
When I turn of the waterpump the watertemp goes down to 64 so I have good control on the Rez temp
I have 77 in the closet, is that OK or a little cold? I just checked the roots and they are starting to reach the rez and looking strong and white

Once root matter begins growing out of the rockwhool, I put into my netpot and fill with hydroton. It really doesn't hurt to put them in it before, if your water level and temps are right it won't cause an issue....and 77 is good, above 80 will become stressful...

P.S. - Many say to use h202 to prevent pythium....but, having tried it and got pythium anyways, I tried Hydroguard....not only did it totally snuff the pythium out, but have never gotten it since. And my res temp gets as high as 74 degrees some days. So, please consider beneficials (hydroguard specifically) before running an h202 treatment plan.

Thanks for your reply Logan It's going well here. I had a accident when one of the LED drivers fell down on the smallest plant but I think it's going to make it.

One thing about dwc is that they grow very slowly until that first tap root leaves the netpot; then it is just explosive growth. And wow I am sorry for your misfortune! Is your setup in a tent?...Cannabis is a very resilient plant, it sounds like your's is recovering very well.

I am growing in a closet I thought all the strange leaf's on the smallest was damage from the falling driver but it seems that strain have some strange genetic faults and will get deformed leaf's when to little light, strange stuff

A little update: I have had some slight pH issue but it seems it was the cheap Chinese pH meter that was F**king up, bought GHE test kit and I have full control again. I also have full control with Rez temp and nutrients. Some pics

Twisted leafs, wierd holes and or growth or discoloration of chlorophyll is a sign PH levels over time swinging up and down a bit too much.

The strange looks of the small one is really a genetic fault, I panicked when I first saw it but then I remembered it was in the description of the seeds where I bought it. Here is the description translated with Google
Grapefruitkush have a genetic mutation that results in some phenoer have some kind of funny-looking leaves, but it seems to only occur on phenoer who do not get enough light. If you put one phenol directly under the light who have this mutation, it seems as if the strange leaves become less frequent, and quietly disappear.
From these opservationer we recommend that you use a minimum of 400 watts of light, as you should avoid mutated plants with bright lights, you may easily spend 250 watt lamp.

We'll that is interesting to read. Never seen that before for a seed info description. I suppose that is some genetic thing then .. wierd lol

Either way if you see this on normal plants that is the cause if you do ever experience it.

Yes, it's really strange I was sure they got some bugs or sickness until I remembered the description

Best bit of advice I can give you is make a spread sheet and log everything you can each day.
Take clones before switching to flower and keep them in there own mini DWC to root.

Then the next cycle you have a very good map of what to expect feeding wise.

hate to be a dick but I'm going down that path anyway on this one.... you need to secure that led driver and any other electronics you have over the res.. The mounting holes are there for that exact reason . What would have happened if that pushed the net pot through and followed it? better yet what would have happened if the breaker wouldn't have flipped say you go to check the res and damn too late../ Just saying, safety comes first for a reason even in our hobby of growing plants. ain't no second chances. Sorry like i said hate to be a dick but if something is half assed and a potential hazard in a hydro grow, chances are it will become a problem more than not. especially smaller spaces where we tend to knock shit around when maintaining the space.
