I welcome you to my indoor garden.




Right now I only have cannabis but I have a bunch of seeds on order and I plan on experimenting a lot

Also I'll open open a lot more space once I remove a mattress in the room......

Anyway I hope you'll join me in my journey through organic horticulture! Good conversation, tips, tricks, and love always appreciated

Man I really caught the gardening bug today and I decided to add a 14 gallon tote bed so I can start growing other things than cannabis.

I decided to go with a tote because fuck spending $60 on a water tray and another $20-$40 on a container. Went down to my local Fred Meyer and bought two Sterilite 14 Gallon Totes at $6 a pop. Just drill some hole in the bottom and around the sides a bit and place it on the lid upside-down BAM you gotta decent sized garden container that catches it's own run off.

I plan on trying to notill this so I gathered some stones outside enough to fill the bottom of the tote and rinsed them off in the tote I drilled holes into. Then I put the rocks all in the tote I hadn't drilled into with dish soap and shook for as long as I could stand it (about 5 mins) then back in the tote with holes rinsed with hot water for 10 minutes and repeated the process. These came from my driveway so I wanted to make sure the were cleaned up.

With the foundation of the container set I started to re-hydrated some coco-coir and mix in perlite. The most important thing in my eyes aside from healthy sustainable methods is affordable and waste-less methods I had some old bagged local organic compost that dried up and black gold earthworm casting I mixed this in with a moderate strength SST & lacto solution. I then added my amendments all at 1/2 cup per 10 gallons of soil a little heavier here as the soil base was old and dry and especially heavy on Kelp cause I love kelp and Oyster shell flour for PH buffer and only 1/2 cup of neemcake for the whole container. I also mixed in some peppermint leaves because 1) The smell of fish and crab was overwhelming and 2) From what research I have done it appears to have IPM qualities to it. Lastly I mixed in some mykos and langbeinite. I then by hand transfered all the soil into the container with the holes and rocks at the bottom throughly mixing as transferring. This bed slid right into my closet luckily and I am waiting to see how it drains before start using it till. but I got some carrot and spinach seeds at the store and I also bought some garlic and green onions at the store so we shall see what I will plant first

Man I did SO much I can wait to show everyone! I opened up so much space in my tent, mixed up more soil, planted some new crops, made a compost bin. I can't wait to produce more than just Cannabis and have my very own compost! It's my first time growing anything other than Cannabis so I am SUPER excited to learn more.

I very much hope to! My roommate is very grossed out by them apparently though sooo.......saddness if I can't convince him that he wont even see them. (I tried telling him I already have worms in all my soil but that didn't help the situation )

My true end goal is to get into cockroach's so I can recycle my meat products! But that will never happen here

He wouldnt even know they are there, get em in there!!! Making your own compost is going to have more of an odor than the worms will, though its not a bad odor...with proper control with something like bokashi/LAB etc...

Oh you fucking know it brother. Taught me all about that lacto and SST as well. I can't imagine my cupboard without lacto now.

My compost did get a bit smelly but I covered the top in potting mix, pine needles, peppermint leaves, and cat nip and BAM all smell gone. Even after I mixed it in I just lightly covered again with potting mix and the smell wasn't unpleasant at all.

I don't know much about wormbins though. I should look into the logistics soon

I've been getting started making new compost in the back and have been dumping coffee grounds and left over veges, etc along with a whole batch of LAB and some old soil and leaves.I turned it yesterday and about 1/2 dozen lizards flew out of there along with some big centipede looking things. Wow, the environment thats being created, cant wait for it to be ready, full of worms already....and only been going for a month...

Oh man I love gardening, it's like playing god creating all the ecosystems, maintaining and observing life and death in all parts of the cycle

according to elaine.... you can create compost in 21 days if you do it right.... HOLY SHIT.... i have not been doing it right then lol.

I have a leaf/coffee ground compost bin indoors that i just keep adding leaves to once it breaks down so far, and it doesn't stink at all. (stop putting leaves out to the curb people! ) and it's just like elaine said, which i had came to the same conclusion before I even heard here make the obvious point, the amount of carbon we put in the air by combustion of municipal waste, and improper composting (garbage dumps) is RIDICULOUS. plants sequester carbon, and deposit it into the soil EVERY GROWING SEASON. we need to KEEP IT THERE.

there was another video on here posted about making compost, and all you need is leaves, and coffee ground! lots and lots and lots of leaves, and not very much coffee grounds! And i've been feeding that working compost to my worms, and they swarm the stuff when i put it in the bin.

worms are easy @Jubilant if you just get them off to a good start. inexpensive, low maintenance, and what they give you in return for the little amount of effort required is worth far more in value than the time you put in to have them make it.

Yeah I was watching a bunch of videos last night and from what I see so long as you keep that pile aerobic and make sure that micorbiology is there compost goes SO QUICK

I keep trying to inform everyone now that I know about how bad the impact of organic materials in landfills really is. The more I look into composting the more I love and. It actually gave yet another slap of how connected we all are and how misguided our view of decomposition is.

I understand that comment fully!!!! I been spray bottling forever. When I can do, I will buy a fkn sprayer too. I just broke another spray bottle pump trying to spray chili powder through it
