They just provide an easy way to setup a grow space. You can set it up and take it down quickly if needed which is an advantage. The walls are usually made of reflective material that bounces light back onto your plants. You need a good fan for ventilation and a carbon filter to eliminate any unwanted smells. I love my tent because it means I didn't have to chop any holes in my roof or walls or do any carpentry which I suck at. When it was delivered I had it setup and humming away within an hour. If I ever move I just pack it away in 20 mins and I'm done. You wouldn't even know I was growing unless you saw it. Stealth as hell. My tent is my happy place. If it's raining outside and miserable weather I can always go chill out with my girls in the tent. It's always summer in there.

Haha thanks man! So the requirements to grow using hydroponics are? I know you need a tent obvs its just all the fans and filters that confuse me as ive never done ut before.

I want to use a 600w hps light. Would the light alone keep the temperature at around 25-30 so i wouldnt need anything else to heat it up?

Ps do you think its worth buying a machine that dries and cured the buds for me

I'm still learning myself so can't offer any advice on hydro sorry. I'm currently running soil and coco in fabric pots. I was looking to upgrade to an auto pot self watering system for next time but I want to get the basics nailed down first. I wouldn't recommend a drying/curing machine. In fact I don't even know if such a thing exists. As long as your Temps and humidity are good then it should be sweet. Baby steps man. There's heaps of good info on here if you take the time to read but I would recommend taking it slow and not getting too far ahead of yourself. Counting chickens and all that. Good Luck!

I personally think 600w is kinda hot for a tent. Led's are perfect. There isn't a machine that dries and cures to my knowledge...its a hands on kind of thing

A tent is just a way to have a little room inside of another room. They are generally air and light tight. Come in most sizes you could need. Really good for small, guerrilla grows in your spare bedroom. You can put 1 4x4 veg tent with a 600 in it and 2 4x4 flower (or 1 4x8) tents with 2 600s all inside a spare bedroom.

600w is perfect for a tent lol. 1x1m minimum to 1.5x1.5m maximum. 1.2mx1.2 is perfect for a 600w.

Alot of people out there using HIDs and not many housing burning down mate. Sure you hear of the odd one, usually big setups and im sure there was a cause that could have been prevented.

I'll say this.. it's a lot easier to light proof a tent than it is to light proof a room. This is important because once you start to flower your plants you want them exposed to as close to NO light as humanly possible. Also, whether HPS in a tent is feasible or not depends on the temperature and humidity of the room you have the tent in and whether or not you hAve any means for controlling these factors. If your tent is in a very cool (or cold) room an HPS would be a good option . If you're like me and the room your tent is in is fairly warm and dry to begin with then LED is a better option.

And to the op - how about picking up a book or two, rather than asking the most basic of questions and trying to go from there.

I use two tents one for veg and one for flower, the problem with tents unless you vent and have enough airflow it gets really hot and humid as soon as you close the door, especially during "bed time" and I'm only using Leds I can imaging hid getting a lot hotter. As soon as I open my tent to turn lights back in humidity is at like 80% which is fine for my veg tent but my flowering plants don't like too much humidity. So for the flowering tent I've actually had to black out the room the tent was in so I could open the vents at night time.

If you at 30c in flower that is to much also you will need a cooltube or air hood if you keep temps at right temp it should be fine with no air hood or cooltube

Why not just use inline fans and ducting? This isn't rocket science.

I run a 600w hps in a 2x4x5 tent, I use an enclosed air cooled hood and extract air right from the hood out of the tent with a cheap $50 6" air booster fan. I run the light less than a foot from the plants and canopy temps are steady 80*, with ambient room temps from 68-72

Hydro is a big step for your first grow, I highly suggest starting in coco/perlite in fabric pots. You can have a complete running ready to run setup for quite cheap.

600w Digital ballast w/ enclosed hood 2 bulbs - $200
Tent - $60
fabric pots/plastic saucers - $25
nutes 1L bottles / ph up down / ph drop test kit - $75
timer - $15
coco/perlite enough to make 20 gallons - $20
seeds vary, pretend 6 fem seeds per run - $50
oscillating fan - $25
measuring spoons for nutes - $5

Under $400 startup cost, my first grow, I ran free memphisto seeds autoflowers and paid for every piece of equipment the first run because I didnt have to put money is someone elses pocket to buy the stuff.

Hand waterring 6 fabric pots in coco/perlite is very easy and almost fool proof with hydro like results, if you use 30% perlite you may have to water every other day, increase to 50% perlite and you may be feeding daily.

Because if I had time I would. Hanging a sheet was a hell of a lot easier and cheaper. man, I had surgery on Tuesday. I can't do any thing for 2 weeks. The sheet seemed like the easiest thing...

Yeah, but you're saying both heat and humidity are a problem. Moving air not only solves that, but it eliminates the need to black out the room your tents are in. Air movement is one of the biggest things to consider when budgeting for a build.

I have 5 fans 3 are oscillating, my plants are fine now, adding fans and venting seems to have done the job. When I feel better I'll look into all they extras :)
