so i was thinking about downscaling a bit and going with a meanwell 240 1.4A instead.
them vero29 gen7 38volt chips are listed at 2100A in the datasheet. can i run them at 1,4A without problems or is this not recommended
You can run them at lower currents, they will put out more lumens per a watt running them lower. If you look at the data sheet on them they show lumen output at different currents for all the chips. Running more cobs at a lower current makes for a more efficient light.

I'm running mine @1400. It will result in 50w instead of 76w. Not as bright, but not as hot either

ok now im confused so it looks like if it is a gen6 vero 29 the min voltage for a 1750 driver looks to be 35v area from this data sheet

Arctic alpine 64+ would keep em cool, It's not that hard to wire up the fans, Run in parallel @ 12v with 1amp "driver" and call em good. Get a dimable driver for the cobs, I'm glad I did when I built my light last month. Here is a link to my build thread , it might help ya a little bit :)BB

nice one budget ! most likely im going with the same tech. my closet is also around 60x60 cm- its higher tho , almost 2m.
hows the temps in your tent at full power ? which exhauster are you using ?

At full power it only gets about 75 degrees f in the tent, I'm just using a small 4 inch computer fan driven at 500 mah to pull air out of the tent and a vent at the bottom opened to draw it in.

can somebody recommend an adequate passive heatsink for my vero29s 38V at 2.1A in EUROPE ?
since they are quite heavy (shipping more expensive) would be cheapest if i can get them here

ModuLED Mega 13450 Will go about 37 c above ambient ModuLED Mega 134100 would be about 29C above ambient The ModuLED Mega 13420 is 52C above when all are loaded with 40 watts of heat. Not for sure what efficiency the Vero29 is driven @ 2.1 I would say high 40's at least. Here is the thermal chart.Cass.PNG

thanks for the info.
would something like this suffice too ?
rapidled com/140mm-pin-heatsink/
They say it can handle 70 to 80 watts of heat. I wouldn't buy it just because there is no thermal resistance rating. Also costs more

Bridgelux would go broke selling them at that price. You will see that a lot on alibaba Really low prices that are not correct. You will have to message them to get a real price I would imagine it will be closer to 20 dollars if not over it. Cheapest I have seen a gen 7 vero 29 is 23 dollars a piece.
Have you tried Digikey for vero 29 SE?
