Quick question about seedlings

Hello everyone,

I have a question about pot size for seedlings ..

I did not have any small pots, I did however have large ten gal smart pots along with enough dirt to fill them.

In order to use the dirt and not have it sitting out for months and to avoid driving and buying small pots I just popped the germinate seeds into the pots that I will end up flowering in .. May transplant since they will vegging for about four months but I'll deal with that later ..

So my question is, I know up potting is recommended but since the smartpot will prune the roots, do you think this will cause any issues?

I guess either way the deed is done but I wanted some input on perhaps why it's a bad idea or why it's no big deal ...

I know I'm being very care full not to over water because I see that as maybe one issue since there are not much roots right now but that is the only downside I can think off .. Will the root mass still fill in the whole pot? Or will it just grow to the outside and not fill the in between ?

U will be fine at longest u know how to water just around the stem. Autoflower grower often do this grow in the final pot to avoid stress from transplanting but u have to be somehow experienced with how to water small plants in big pots. Like I said just water around the stem and dont water again until plant uses the water., Keep soil moist but not damp. GL

And I take it back I did go from Dixie cups first just the first time I havnt up potted from one gal to three to 5 or ten

Wait what??? Vegging for 4 months??? Why the hell u wanna do that??

Perpetual grow and no room for them in the next round of flower so either scrap em or grow monsters

If I could fit them in the next flower I would but there really is no way for that.. If I remember by then I'll post some pics

And really only 13 or 14 weeks so more like 3ish

It can be totally fine, or it can get ducked, depending on you. Just don't let the bottom of the pot get soggy while trying to keep the top moist enough.
My best indoor result so far was done on a seed placed in its final 20 gallon container. If your dirt is airy enough it's much easier than if it's a heavy soil.

3-4 month veg is gonna produce some monsters. Can't wait to see those!

Unfortunitly I did not cut with more perlite but FFOF luckily has a decent amount in it and the smart pots are starting to grow on me.. Drying out way faster than I'm used to

Vegging under about 700 watts flourcent in the whole room, if I were using an HID or LED I'd be out a control but I think they grow slower under the flourecents .. They will still be beasts but I just got a few solorsystem 550s and the flower I'm working on now , before I flipped I vegged under those for an additional two weeks and they grew twice as much in the two weeks under led compared to when they were under flourecents

Once I'm done with this flower I'm Gna try and put together a grow journal or SMP .. I've been taking a photo each week .. So far I'm not sure if I'll go back to my HID .. I'm super impressed and the spectrum control on them is really pretty awesome along with SME crazy sunrise and sunset setting that simulates just that .. Cool stuff
