Am going shopping soon and was wondering which of these two is the better and reliable. Thanks for any feedback. The active Aqua is $350 the Titan is $450 for 12 pot systems.
What set up did you end of going with. Im looking into one that expands to 36-48 sites , ive read about 3/4 tubing is better and also some designs have puddling issues etc. any feedback would be appreciatedAm going shopping soon and was wondering which of these two is the better and reliable. What do you mean by cleaning the hydroton? As in all the roots growing through it and then getting them ready for the next crop or the initial rinsing? Are you still using this set up. I was also thinking DWC but since its my first grow and im starting fairly large people have been saying just start with flood/drain.Active Aqua 2.0 ,the only downside is cleaning all that hydroton.
Yes cleaning between grows, I went from DWC to Ebb&Flow and haven't looked back. I still use DWC once in awhile to keep a mom, but I luv the ebb&flow for its ease, and how it performs. What do you mean by cleaning the hydroton? This will be my first grow..everywhere i read they advise against rockwool cause it stays too wet around the stem or something like thatMight try rockwool this round...
Then don't flood as oftenThis will be my first grow..everywhere i read they advise against rockwool cause it stays too wet around the stem or something like that
If you have the rockwool submerged you only need to water 1x a day. Switch it to 2-3x during flower. This will be my first grow..everywhere i read they advise against rockwool cause it stays too wet around the stem or something like that
I run a two to three inch layer of rockwool sandwiched in the middle of the bucket. Hydroton on the bottom for drainage, hydroton on the top to prevent algae. This will be my first grow..everywhere i read they advise against rockwool cause it stays too wet around the stem or something like that
Im going to go pick up some rockwool today as the hydro store recommend running the chunks. How does the plant hold up in rockwool? Any falling over?I run a two to three inch layer of rockwool sandwiched in the middle of the bucket. Hydroton on the bottom for drainage, hydroton on the top to prevent algae.
Like I mentioned, I run a maybe 2 inch layer of hydroton on the bottom, dropped an already vegged out teen in one of the big 4 inch blocks in, add a couple cups of rockwool mini cubes(about 2 inches), and then top the bucket off with hydroton.Im going to go pick up some rockwool today as the hydro store recommend running the chunks. How do you stop the roots from growing into the fill valve in the bottom of the buckets?Like I mentioned, I run a maybe 2 inch layer of hydroton on the bottom, dropped an already vegged out teen in one of the big 4 inch blocks in, add a couple cups of rockwool mini cubes(about 2 inches), and then top the bucket off with hydroton.
This isn't necessary if you're running sterile though. I run hydro with beneficials - bennies do better in rockwool than hydroton. When I used to run sterile, I'd just do the whole thing in hydroton.
I've never had a plant fall over. Not even in the few runs I did a long time ago in top to bottom rockwool mini cubes. They sorta pack together when wet.
I top water the bennies in once a week, so I can tell then if the line is clogged or not. It used to be a bigger problem years ago when I ran half inch line. Purchase some plugs, both for the tubing and the connectors, if you don't already have them. If the line gets clogged, manually unclog it - that's what the plugs are for.How do you stop the roots from growing into the fill valve in the bottom of the buckets?
