4 pounds of RSO that needs a bit more of its ISO removed. HELP!

I just had my RSO tested at SC labs and I have way too high of PPM solvents (ISO) detected - 3159.1. I have several years worth of batches that were of various trial and error attempts that i combined into a single amount in order to blend to a consistent TCH percent as well as repurge the ISO solvents that linger from my early batches. I put it in a new crock pot and waited for the bubbles to stop. I stirred often to bring them to the top. I also dropped some water on top and waited for it to evaporate off. So this stuff was mostly finished very thick and dark RSO That was about 4" deep. (I have almost 4 pounds of it to do) was that just to much? I didn't think it would take much time to correct the high alcohol. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks in advance.

PS: Its been awhile since i visited Phoenix Tears, in his instructions he mentions this "Another way to finish the oil without the use of a coffee warmer, is to put the oil in an oven set at 120°C or about(250°F) for about thirty minutes to an hour. Both of these methods work very well to bring the oil to a finished state". does anyone think i could do this with casserole pans? 4 at a time with an inch of RSO? Thanks again

no, but id be willing to pay a service for professional purging, but i can't seem to find who that would be. I am a handy sort of guy bso i could make one, but ive seen some real negative replies to the home brew from folks that do this do this for a living. I also am suspicious of SC labs and others that
want a 400-500 PPM for ISO when there own lab says its safe to have residuals of ISO because ISO is a very begin solvent. So why so low as 400 PPM? . As a side note I want to give this to an edible Co. not to cancer patients. It seems that because i didn't decarb most of this series,
My test results are at 49% THC . kinda low for medical RSO but fine for edibles. In fact im surprised that 500ppm is even an issue for a company doing edibles, or maybe it isn't. Ive never seen specs on an edible website for their minimum PPM for accepting product. Any thoughts? Thanks

With RSO though, a rice cooker would be MORE than enough to purge. Your talking about ~200f where alcohol boils at ~177f so it will for sure remove all your solvent. Just keep it going until all the bubbles stop.

Search for "Winterizing" oil. Some method of cleaning up oil that I've read about but I'm not interested into going thru the extra hassle.

I don't think that just heating your oil in a rice cooker will remove enough of the solvent residue to pass a serious quality test. Heated vacuum purging seems to be the gold standard but I believe that much of the medicinal value is removed in the process. I just make cocobudder and get all the plant has to offer that way.

Easier to purge in a thin film. Easiest in a thin film under heat and vacuum. I use a vacuum chamber or oven at -29.5" Hg and 125F.

If you decarboxylate it at 250F, it will typically also be below 500 ppm residual iso when you finish. 2-Propanol (iso) and ethanol are both the same class FDA solvent, with 5000 ppm maximum residuals in pharma.

With a 5000 ppm max, standards are typically set at 10% of that, or 500 ppm, but some locales have called out 50 ppm regardless of solvent. Test cutoff will show ND. Check your local rules.

how about time advice. if i am reading the chart correctly 250f for 30 min should do it. Do you think a pyrex tray with 1 inch of RSO would be OK or still too thick? Id like to do 4 trays at a time, my other idea is buying 4 rice cookers to run outside so my wife doesn't complain about the smell :)

Would you define what you mean by zero and perfection in chemical terms????
nah, I'm just above open blasting really. but you know that now. i bet "no solvent" and "zero" detection of any solvent fits though. I'd like to think that would be ideal is all .

I infer we are talking about decarboxylation, as it will take awhile to purge an inch thick slab. For decarboxylation, 250F for 27 minutes is in the ball park, but to tell for sure, just watch the bubbles.

Decarboxylation gives off CO2 bubbles and when their production suddenly drops off, you are at about 70% and when it stops, you are at 100%.

appreciate the help, i did decarb in the oven before the ISO soak, i just need to get solvent ppm lower. im going to try 1/2 inch of RSO at 220 in the oven and plan on this taking several days of small batches. I just need to get the PPM down for food grade RSO.
