I'm aware that the south and Appalachia has more than it's fair share of rednecks. Mostly because the same type of person, if from someplace else, is not called a redneck.

That being the case, although most people here are poorer than average for the US and less educated than their counterparts in the rest of the nation, there are still those who aren't. You can find sophistication, wealth, educated, and even progressive individuals within the area you described.

That's exactly what I am saying about blacks and intelligence. The average black is less intelligent than the average Japanese person, as is the average white person. That doesn't mean the smartest person on Earth isn't black.
