A few questions getting better yields

You say your fast buds weren't the greatest yields at a 9 week chop ?
All my fast buds recommended 70days (10 weeks) and that's obviously in perfect conditions ..

So basically how did you come to the conclusion "Done" at 9 weeks ?
Not being a nob just curious how you managed to finish them a week earlier then the breeder reccomendation
finishing early under cobs compared to their estimate for a hps isn't that unusual, but he may have harvested early if he got low yields, curious how the quality was

Did wonder that ..
sort of statement that makes me want to invest in one lol

Unfortunately for me I'm going to hit the 70day mark and then an additional week or two lol I don't think my CFL has the same need to see it ready that I do :(

@TAGrows ive got a green crack on the go if ever wanna look , also it's my understanding from fast buds there Pineapple Express is a little sensitive to N so maybe something to take into consideration :)
I grew tangiematic and six shooter and fast buds recommended 9 weeks on those two. I actually cut at almost 10 weeks. I would have to look at my notes but I thinknow it was 65 days.

If you have a diary or log going I would love to check out the green crack.

That is correct that training autos is not worth the time. Their flower and veg times are hard to judge when one ends and the other begins so best to let them go all natural. I do agree with switching over to photoperiod plants at the same time. I tried autos when I restarted back up only to gift most of the seeds away I had leftover that were autos. Regular plants allow much more control over what your plants are doing and makes everything much easier in my opinion. From memory, the autos are not as heavy feeders though too, and this is a common mistake most growers make- over feeding. Really if you want more yield, switch to photoperiod seeds. The THC content is usually lower with autos too but I don't keep up with genetic breakthroughs of autos which do happen and they have come a long way in the last 5 years. Either way, have fun be safe.
Some autos respond very well to topping and training. Normally the larger xxl autos.
I know this type of question is probably the most asked thing so I apologize in advance for beating this horse. So I am about done with my second grow. My first grow was fast buds autoflowers of tangiematic and six shooter. Both strains finished fast in 9 weeks from seed to cut. My yields were pretty small. I got between 50 and 70g per plant so nothing impressive. They claim 70 to 300g per plant. I am using COB's at 35w per sqft so I have plenty of light running 18/6. I also am using 5 gl airpots and Fox farms happy frog soil. For nutes I run the full line of Roots Organic. I did struggle with root ph a bit and what looked to be calcium deficiency. My second grow is of fastbuds autoflowers tangiematic and girl scout cookies. I am running the same setup, but did better with root ph and addressed the calcium deficiency . My yields look like they will be the same.

I am trying to increase my yields a bit. Any advice on my setup would be much appreciated.

This run I want to grow Green Crack and Pineapple express. I was thinking of running photoperiod seeds instead of autos. My big question is what breeder should I use? And when they claim something like 450g per square meter how long do you veg them to get that kind of yield? They always give a flower time, but what is the standard veg time? And if I am growing in a 7 ft high tent that max plant height could be 6ft when do I flip them to 12/12? And what can I roughly anticipate for yields with the height and veg times? I am trying to decide if it's worth it to go with the longer grow cycle of the photos versus the autos. Thanks for any help. Sorry for the long post.
Bigger pots and running veg nutes all the way through will extend the veg time on autos. Go with 3-5 gallon pots.

Although I know autos can yield decent and I have posted pics of 3 foot ones I have went back to photoperiod. I wanted to take clones and go perpetual.

Learn how to grow, that will increase yields. There's no magic advise. Take care of your plant and she will take care of you
I completely agree and understand that. I am doing my best to read and learn. Never a magic bullet, but if I was obviously aiming in the wrong direction you guys would be able to maybe catch it. Sometimes us noobs miss some of the major things.

the estimates you see on breeders pages are almost always for a sea of green grow under a 1k light, if you are using any other technique, or a smaller light, you aren't going to get their estimate.
I figured they were total pipe dreams. I also didn't think that I would be at or below the minimum claim because I had fairly nice looking plants. Just need to improve on my skills.

Quality was good. Not the most dense nuts but theyou were strong. I didn't have a microscope to gauge when to chop so I just waited until over 2/3rds of the hairs got dark. This run I have a microscope to use to know when to chop.

Are you sure they were finished when you harvested? IME none of fast buds take 9 weeks, 10-11 weeks is the minimum. And Six Shooter is supposed to take the longest out of any of the other fast buds strains..
No I'm not sure at all. I used the watch the hairs method to see when to chop.

I'm a noob too, working my way through my first grow with COBs and soil. I've got the potential for 50w/sq ft, but I'm trying to keep the amps down for greater efficiency.
There is really no definitive answer to the 'max yield' question, but you are on the right track to not simply look at Grams/Watt but to also consider Grams/Watt/Week, which is a much better measure of your actual performance and efficiency.
Here are some very useful links which have helped me to understand this side of the process and the sort of yield that can be expected with experience and longer Veg time. Don't worry that the Cap'n seems to diss LEDs - he's only human after all.
