Preparing for my first outdoor grow

Why do people whom never grew marijuana before always want to start out big? I mean I understand that they want to grow a lot of pot and all but there setting themselves up for failure.

My first ever grow was around 50 plants.

Ive never grown anywhere near that amount again.

I dont think 50 is much more work than 25 really. Add in when you buy soil, nutes etc in bulk its cheaper than buying small amounts.
More reward for close to the same amount of work and cost close to the same as a smaller grow..makes sense to me.

In saying that you also need to stay under the indictable/ jail limits. Aint worth doing time next to Bubba.

But..I know of one gentleman that went super big and retired after one grow..so..

I have grown numerous times, very successfully indoors. I have only grown hydroponically and want to venture into outdoor and soil. If I fail, I fail, but at least I learn what to do and what not to do. Practice makes perfect. I have a team of 4, including myself, who are very capable and productive growers, so why not take the chance? How else am I supposed to learn?

Pm at bud rot will squash this crop . This should be your up most concern along with bugs. Mites and caterpillars .

Honestly just fox farm ocean forrest then added some EWC & dolomite lime... expensive AF buying bagged soil, but it's good and reliable. There was no other options for me as I'm in the middle of no where. If I would of had an option to buy some good soil from a nursery or somewhere I would have done that then amended it. This year I'm just gonna re amend what I have then re use it. If you get a good quality soil, especially if you use organic nutes then you can use over and over again. Pays for itself quick. If there's anything else I can help with let me know.

One thing I learned from this year - huge reseviors help a TON. I ended up using a 1,650 gallon mixing tank.. was using a 200 gallon and had to mix wayyy to many batches of nutes. Was a PITA. 1650 definitely made it MUCH more time efficient.


Just do us all a big favor and keep it under 99 bro. I think there is a very high chance of the Fed's cracking down this year and all these people doing larger than 99 plant grows are bringing way to much heat to the state. Plus if you get popped with over 99 and the Fed's decide to pick up the case your fucked. No attorney can help you then. I know someone who got popped with a couple hundred indoors and is now looking at 40 years fed time + 5 million in fines. Stay safe.

I know the property already has reservoirs and I believe they are 250 gallon so I will have to change that out. Next I completely agree with the plant count. That is why I want to reduce the number of plants, I just wanted everyone's opinion. The property was being used for the past 5 years to do 300 50 gallon. I didnt want to start my first outdoor grow by breaking too many laws especially one as important as plant count. As for soil I might have to go the same route seeing as I am pretty much in the middle of no where also. Hopefully I will be able to locate a nearby nursery that delivers. I will definitely be taking you up on that offer of hitting you up with any other questions. Hope I dont become a bother. Thank you again.

Lol that's the truth.. seems like most people don't realize how much time it takes. I did 65 300 gallons last year and me + my friend were working 12-16 hour days minimum during the peak of the summer. I think our slowest day was an 8 hour day.. was nice taking it easy that day. And thats with me having several outdoor grows under my belt.

Also I don't think people realize how much money goes into a grow that size. I spent 15-20K just in nutes last year.. then you've got the 30-40k in soil, plus water tanks, pumps etc. It adds up quick.

I'm looking forward to only doing 35 400 gallons this year, will be nice not having to work so much

Yeah I also yielded a crazy amount...
Have you ever had to water with 6,000-8,000 gallons/week? When you're in a hot dry climate with NO rain it changes shit up. Botanicares npk is also very low.. bloom = 1-4-5.. gotta feed just about every watering in bloom.

All so I don't know what part of CO or climate you are in but in order to fill out 300 gallon pots you probably have to start inside or at least be able to pop seed in April. If your using clones you can't go out til the first of June with out supplemental lighting.
K , so after you get thru that part now you have to figure out how to keep your big fat buds dry in the months of September and October. Have some kind of hoop house planned out or something.

Im not sure how co climate is... But i will say, be selective in your strains. Im in cali & have strains that didnt finish... So id stay with your 8 weekers for sure just to stay on the safe side..

I will be in the western slope, Grand junction area. I would like to start from seed. Pop them inside and then transplant outdoors or just start them outdoors?
