How hard should i defoliate? (pics inside)

Hi guys stuck right now on what to do next on my scrogs these are 2 different nets. Ive read a lot about people saying not to defoliate and to leave the fan leaves but take everything under the screen off. I did that now my top seems really bushy should i pluck off fan leaves now? thanks

I would not defoliate, but everybody grows differently. I do lollipop but not for the reasons most people say "it'll push the energy to the top" No, I lollipop to make it easier for me to water.

Your canopy looks dense and lush. Normally I wouldn't defoliate, but if your plants are so dense that they might have a mold issue, then you might want to trim some leaves.

There isn't a one size fits all answer to how you should grow. You just have to make what you have work. I dont consider trimming/pruning some leaves as defoliating.

I consider defoliating taking off all the fans leaves. The best way to combat mold is to have good air flow and low humidity. Air exchange is the key too, stagnant air will help breed mold spores.

That looks good, if you take the sun leaves off now it will set them back wait until they start to flower before deciding on taking them off.

My definition of defoliate is different from Gary's. I wouldn't defoliate at all. My definition of defoliate is to strip and remove all leaves.

"Thining" is the process of removing a few leaves, or pruning a select few branches.

Very nice! I'm with Gary and I would be very selective and probably not remove any but I find it hard to not get in there and start plucking a few lol. And yup fresh air is the key to healthy happy girls for me, never had issues with mould indoors yet . Once the stretch starts things will open up as well.

I don't defoliate but I tuck , if I really need to remove one or two then so be it. I think if no light hits the floor then that's a good thing. And of course ventilation . Good advice^^^^^

Honestly, if your area is clean and mold free then its pretty hard to get mold under an HPS especially with a constant oscillating breeze.

yep that's mine it was a Chemo. I don't take the big leaves off until they start turning yellow or shade the buds. try doing it to a couple and then compare them that way you will know and keep us updated so we can see too.

Defoliate to me is to remove/strip all leaves. Like a defoliant does. Not be selective on what type of leaf it is.
