You don't see it unless you live somewhere else, the rest of the world see usa has having a huge problem and you all sleep with guns under your pillows.

that's how we see it and so should you ..... question ...... would any of you want to move to europe away from the guns for your kids safety ?

I think your assault weapon definition was overly inclusive. The term has evolved largely as a result of weapons politics in the developed world. I'm using the professionals' definition precisely because I am pushing back against the vague semantics that are driving the emotional/irrational side of the debate. OP provides a compact example of this phenomenon, that in my opinion muddies the discussion.

On a more relaxed note, I have sometimes chuckled at the redundancy of the phrase "assault weapon". Every weapon from the hand-sized rock on up to ... the sapient malware that I speculate are kept suspended and ready by the superpowers ... has one and only one use: assault. All weapons are offensive; using them for defense makes NO difference at the "how the weapon works" level; that is entirely a higher-level matter ... essentially "at what are you aiming and why", tactics and strategy.

Any non-assault device or facility is not a weapon and is correctly grouped under "armor".

No I'll keep my kids over here in America where they have the right and freedom to pick up a gun see its about know how to use a gun that's important my kids have shot actual rifles since age 5

A serious question. How can one keep guns out of a country? Specifically, how do we prevent the REAL gun horror from ever recurring?

YES yes I do as its my right as an American also I have hunted and killed deer with an AR - 10 ( chambers a .308 round ) so what would you call a hunting gun.. not all hunting happens in the mountains

This is one of the most ignorant posts I have seen on RIU. Someone looking for attention. And to be honest with you, we really don't want you or your kids here. The only folks we really want here are those that understand our way of life who embrace it and want to participate in it. Folks like you seem to only be able to sit back and spew nonsense and have no idea what they are talking about. With your level of ignorance I really feel sorry for your kids; that they are being taught things that are based off of stupidity and not facts!

Sometimes identifying and defining just what is nonsense is a valuable exercise. There is the off-chance that I can get a fellow RIUnian to think about what is being said, what isn't being said and (most interesting to me) what is being said but not really.

Consider that the biggest gun problem of all - war - has been largely absent from this doscussion. So why is this bad
